Car Search vs GPS Tracking Systems

Postby Premera » January 17th, 2014, 9:40 am

Looking for some feedback for clients regarding the advantages and disadvantages ( if any ) of both systems and recommendations or preference to either one

Remember seeing a tuner posting an XMAS special for 1500 installed also ?

Thanks,

I bought my own GPS tracking device to do my own tracking. For cheap too.

Just to buy a prepaid SIM now...

I will have it installed soon and post feedback on how well it works.

Works the same just you will be spending a lot more money.
With the pre paid I put in a 20 dollars top up every few months.
You only use a few dollars every month if you keep calling the tracker,
the tracker responds with a text which is 25cents for each call

What good is a tracker without recovery service? You gonna find the thief and ask him nicely for your car back?

Its cool angel. I think alot of us will learn from this thread.

Went to R.E.O. yesterday and was shocked at the number of vehicles that were there having the GPS system installed

Car Search uses the lo jack system ie based on Radio Frequency, GPS relies on satellites.

just make sure when you're getting one, go with a provider that's offering free recovery service. doesn't make sense to try to save $1000 by buying a device alone and not having recovery...

GPS is like digital communications with a lot of features.
Lo jack is like morse code, always there to fall back on.

Lo jack will be less accurate, but it finds the car in a radius of about 100 feet. Angry men with shotguns take it from there.

I have car search installed in 3 vehicles and the service is quite good. One of the vehicles was stolen and car search did recover, the car was being driven on the road at the time of the recovery. The car search recovery team do not hesitate to use force in recovering the car.

I think GPS is good but whichever system you choose ensure you also have recovery as part of the package since you will be placing your life at risk when trying to recover your vehicle from the bandits.

I got a few vehicles installed with them and its like $125 per month per vehicle which is quite affordable for a 24hr armed response team.

Angry men with shotguns.....

They're sitting in the waiting room watching TV and YOU disturb them by stealing a car with lo jack.
They now have to leave the couch because of YOU. Guess who they're angry at? AND they're trained..
Did I mention they have shotguns?

Unless you're in the protective services and can really handle yourself, go with Car Search.

It's amazing that you spend 100,000+ on a car, but $1500 a year for car search with recovery men benning.

But..carnival time most of them spending way more than that in fetes and drinking.

I'll never use a GSM recovery system on any vechile, I dont think cell service is that reliable yet.

Have car search already installed.

I share the same opinion re gps systems as i was told bad weather could affect the satellite feed etc etc.
