Accident in Moruga 18-9-17 ..Regiment and Civilian

Graphic -

A crash victim's arm may have to be amputated, after a sports utility vehicle occupied by soldiers crashed into his vehicle in Moruga on Monday.

Jamie Loubon, 28, of Penal Rock Road, Moruga, was driving a vehicle carrying his wife and three children.

Graphic video of the crash on social media showed a bone in Loubon's right arm protruding, while people attempted to assist him before paramedics arrived.

The children, aged ten months, two and four, were also seriously injured.

They are in stable condition, the report said.

Loubon's wife, Cassie Funrose, was treated and discharged.

Five soldiers were also treated and discharged from hospital.

The crash occurred at around 8.20 p.m. at Bois Jean Jean Road.

A police report stated that the soldiers were in a marked Toyota Landcruiser driven by a 27 year old private of Point Fortin.

Police said the regiment's vehicle was proceeding south along the road when another vehicle came into its path.

Police said the private swerve to the right avoid collision, but instead crashed into a Nissan B13 driven by Loubon.

The regiment's vehicle overturned several times and crashed into a wall.

The injured were taken to the Princes Town District Health Facility.

Loubon and the children were transferred to the San Fernando General Hospital for further treatment.

Officers of the Moruga Police Station and Princes Town Fire Station responded.
