Two drivers die in head-on crash in Couva

TWO MEN were killed in a head-on collision in Couva early Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Akiel Garcia, 30, of Gasparillo and Joshua Dipchand, 19, of Winsdor Park, Couva.
Both men were driving Nissan B-14 Sentras when they collided near a traffic light intersection near the National Energy Skills Centre.
Police said closed circuit television cameras picked up the two men speeding along Rivulet Road before they collided near the corner.
Police said both men died at the scene.

Only if there is a pedestrian crossing then the pedestrian is right, other than that the driver have right of way

there was a case a few yrs ago - someone get knocked down around the QPS.
case reached to court. the driver was not fined - i believe - iirc the pedestrian was at fault.

there was a zebra crossing like 10 feet away and the pedestrian chose not to cross on it - instead to dash across...
pedestrian admitted there was a zebra crossing right there but could not give a reason for not using it.

Correct, and it's not only the zebra lines, the crossing extends to where the /\/\/ looking lines on the roadside are, same area applies for for not parking on the pedestrian crossing

To be fair to pedestrians a majority of drivers have no respect for zebra crossings. Particularly in PoS a driver may stop on one lane but in the other lanes drivers buss thru and its a hazard to cross.
