Saw one of my highschool friends recently selling doubles for a living. Quite sure she way better off than me right now  .

Financially maybe, but think of the ungodly hours spent frying bara and making sauces and chana, also having to operate a stand and sell doubles. The manual labour involved in making and selling doubles is more than I could take.

This only applies to small fry operations. The big doubles conglomerates buy bara and everything else wholesale and simply retail for a profit.

Some folks really have a heavy dependence on doubles yes,
Would swear it as important a product as baguettes are to France

At the end of the day it not any different than a street pie or dinner mint

Persad's , Ali's, Dass, Doubles Factory etc. There are several wholesalers, some ppl buy bara alone, some the bara and channa, some buy everything including the cart and just get a location and sell
