Still doesn't feel like trek...but it's at least getting more interesting.

If they are lazy might just be a heavily modified and upgraded Defiant. Last time we saw her in Enterprise she 100 years more advanced than anything out there

Plot twist is plot twisty. This still doesn't feel like Trek to me but it is at least interesting.

how sustainable is it tho? Can't continue being plot twisty forever....'traditional' trek was built on Roddenberry's vision of the future and that vision was a common thread...this new series doesn't really hav that

Hmmmm well things suddenly got interesting............ great climax to the mirror episodes but it seems like the future has been re-written. With only 2 episodes left I wonder if they will fix this in season 1 or if it will take all of the rest of the seasons to reset

They are trying to keep people interested in the jj verse timeline version of trek to boost people's interest into the new star trek movies, just admit that's it's the kelvin timeline & be done with it.Keeps the original to make the trek fans happy & validates this new timeline full of plot holes/flashy crap & too advanced tech to bring in the new fans. Now tarantino is working on a star trek movie now so wonder how that will go.

I’m thoroughly enjoying it, canon, kelvin or not, but how in Spock’s name they gonna keep this level of action up for multiple seasons?

I think you mean Captain Archer has been dead for a century....Pike is supposed to be the 1st captain of Kirk's enterprise.

Discovery is set about 10 years before kirk, hence pike was the captain of the enterprise then, years later he was seriously injured & hanicapped in the prime timeline. He went back to the planet Talos IV to stay with the talosians for the rest of his life with the help of kirk & spock (see the tos episodes "the cage" & "the menagerie".In the kelvin timeline he died in the attack by khan on starfleet headquarters, about 1 year after giving kirk command of the enterprise.

Archer died in 2245 one day after attending the christening ceremony of pike's enterprise & discovery is set in 2255,so thats is another plothole mistake which the writers of discovery seem to like repeating.Given that this series is probably based in the kelvin timeline or even one of it's own they make up stuff as they go.

My suspicion is the appearance of the Enterprise is an attempt by the producers to appease the alienated traditional fan base. Even the article admitted the show is about the Discovery so don't expect any big role for that ship or its crew.

Gotta admit though, the redesigned model looks good.
