talk about priorities...first the paintings...now this

Why is this a surprise?

Pnm lives in the past. They are forever living in their "glory days "

And by their, I mean their colonial masters

IDB: T&T Govt spending among most wasteful

TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO Government spending is among the most wasteful in Latin America and the Caribbean, a new Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) study has shown.

The IDB study, “Better Spending for Better Lives: How Latin America and the Caribbean Can Do More with Less”, came out on September 26—days before T&T’s 2019 national budget was read in Parliament on October 1 by Finance Minister Colm Imbert.

The PM looked unwell when he did the press conference. They have no shame to say they helping people. Only boasting about surveying

Army, fire, CG, AG and police were all there. Saying they were not there is a slap in the face to ppl who actually came out to help and actually provided assistance

Entering that area was near impossible based on the depth and current of the flood especially not knowing the area fully so obviously the first responders and good samaritans were all ppl from the area and nearby village who even guided the protective services on paths and routes.

And Greenvale area is wayyyy bigger than what it apprears to be on the news, only the front was shown..

Everyone deserves to be commemerated on this because the death toll could have easily been 50+. This is the most unified I've ever see trinis bar carnival, T20 and world cup qualifications.

Sad to see the usual armchair analysts and politicians who hell bent on keeping the country divided for their own interests with the ,"if I, if x was in power" Bs.

Only persons to blame here are governments who signed off to build that place, the contractor, developer surveyors etc and those who completed and distributed keys to the sitting ducks just waiting on the right enough rainfall to fork every single house up

I am off the belief if you didn't actually go out there in the field and assist in some form or fashion you really don't have any right criticizing anyone (whether they deserve it or not).

Politicians will always be politicians.

thank god the people didnt depend on the government. if they did, then this would have been an international incident.

with all the resources the government has available to them, they get shine up by kalpoo brothers with their sanctuary boat.

There are still people waiting on compensation from previous floods. Assessments are yet to be made but from the scope of the disaster the initial $ 25M Government has earmarked seems woefully inadequate.

Rushton Paray, MP for Mayaro/Rio Claro speaking on television this morning said that he would estimate island-wide damages somewhere in the $ 250M range...

Then the funds that were allocated for the worthless toco highway should be utilitized to help the current flood victims, that money should also go to improving infrastructure in those areas to try and prevent this from happening to this magnitude again.

lets wait and see what happens!

Agree fully here. The management is one thing but there are pictures on facebook where all of them are doing their part.

Btw... Devant Maharaj is a complete mofo on facebook. People suffering but he writing all over news pages negativity on what the PP woulda do and what the pnm shoulda do. Gosh man

Caricom: We ready to assist

Rowley: nahhhh we good we good relax...

Regional leaders ready to assist T&T
Rowley says 'we are coping'

Image

Prime Minister Dr the Honourable Keith Rowley has been contacted by the Prime Minister of Jamaica, Andrew Holness, the Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Mottley, the Prime Minister of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit, the Prime Minister of Grenada, Dr Keith Mitchell and the President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro.

The regional leaders have expressed their concern for the people of Trinidad and Tobago as we grapple with the effects of the floods due to this unusually protracted period of inclement weather. They have all indicated that they are on standby to assist the people of Trinidad and Tobago in the event that requests for assistance are forthcoming.

The Prime Minister thanked all the leaders for their concern and best wishes and indicated that difficult as it is, we are coping for the moment through Government agency responses and private outpourings from persons across the nation.

it will be a bit shamless to take from the less fortunate.
they have less resources and always getting take out with hurricanes.
we get some hard rain. but plenty big business jumping out with foods and supplies. so at least the interim can settle back. for the clean up period.
the flood grants should allow them to restart with a couple appliances, beds, books, clothes. is only when they might get it, might be trouble some.

i have nothing against the man and his illness, but because of his condition, he should resign that post, and let it go to a more capable person, while he recuperates .

Quick question... What does "being out" benefit any flood victims. Does a politician's mere presence bring some sort of relief with it?

I asking cause I really confused...
