Though I don’t have any experience with the dvr, I would recommend hikvision

Works well and provides enough detail both in night and day situations.

its not really hard. you pay for cloud storage pay for a DDNS service or use a free one

setup ip address on DVR...setup port forwarding on router....test your settings and youre done.

note before you pay for cloud storage ensure that your DVR actually has the ability to directly record to the cloud or push saved recordings to the cloud. :!:

same thing i tryin to figure out ?

is it that hes trying to prevent the footage / dvr from being stolen in an event of a burglary.?

cloud storage is good but it depends on the situation and the internet speed and reliability....

For systems you usually run one cat 5 per camera. What's your point? I'm looking at such systems and only coming up with zmodo and Y1 which are really poor video quality systems. Guess they're good enough for you.

Call Digicel and explain to them what has happened, they will walk you through the necessary steps. Really easy fix.

I don't promote Hikvision simply because of this:

http://www.securityworldmarket.com/int/ ... ix3h6ApDqA

Many of the US embassies banned from using this brand..

In all fairness it's not HikVision alone that this can happen to.

Foscam wifi IP cameras and free NVR software is all you need. 1080/720p resolution depending on camera, alerts, email etc etc. Plugged in for 4 years plus and no issue except power adapter failure.

And regular old used hard drives with no issue on 24/7 recording, never changed a drive due to failure, only to go larger old used drive.

Needing special equipment/drives is just bs and marketing really.

IP Cameras is the rave :D

For ole gingos "rave" mean "it really super."

Like Turkey leg @ Christmas and foreign viper red woman @ Carnival.

We should have a separate thread on " IP Cameras " alone.

It's portable . Easy peasy to install . And a DIY project :D

Gents, i have a question.
My cams came with a set of adapters to supply power to them. Seems every time electricity went and come back an adapter stop working. All 3 are dead. I know they said 12V DC out so i bought one of these 12V power supply for it. The power supply does 13.8V DC out though.
Will 13.8V hurt the cams or does it need to be 12V flat? I don't have any working adapter to even measure the voktage self.

Depends on the type of camera, distance of wire run, amount or IR's on the cameras. Short distances it will work fine. At night time you'll know better when all the IR's are on. Invest in one of these. It's a power panel that distributes an even 12volts to all cameras. There are 9 output and 18 output versions.
