Sylvon Alexis ,Robocop's brother was a joiner by trade. He was not in any type of gang or warfare, but was killed because he was Robo's brother. TrinidadExpress - THE BROTHER of slain Enterprise gang leader Selwyn “Robocop” Alexis was gunned down yesterday evening in Enterprise, the third relative of Alexis to have been killed since he was shot dead in Enterprise in July last year.
The killing, and that of a Cara­po man, took the 2017 murder toll to 114 up to last night.
Police said the shooting of Sylvan Alexis, said to be in his 40s, occurred around 6 p.m. in John Street, Enterprise, when gunmen walked up to him and opened fire.
The killers used high-powered sub-machine guns as several 5.56 mm shell casings were found on the scene, police said. Alexis died on the spot.
On the scene last night were officers of the Region Three Homicide Bureau, Crime Scene Unit specialists and officers of the Chaguanas CID.
On July 17, 2016, Selwyn “Robo­cop,” Alexis, who operated a grocery/car wash in Freedom Street, Chaguanas, was on the compound when he was ambushed and killed.
The shooter, Thomas “Hamza” Sharpe, was killed by Alexis. Customer Kevin Escayg, 43, a project manager of Saldenah Terrace, Macoya, was also killed while his son, Kirchard Scott, five, was shot in the abdomen but survived.
After the July 2016 murder of Alexis, however, two of Alexis’ rela­tives were killed in the Central Division.
On December 4, 2016, Alexis’ brother Mervyn Alexis was killed at the family’s mini mart in Freedom Street by an unknown gunman.
Earlier, on November 24, Alexis’ nephew Anton Mitchell was at his home in Walter’s Lane when he allegedly attacked police offi­cers with a firearm.
He was shot dead by the offi­cers during an exchange of gunfire, police said.
