If they were insured, then they get a down payment to start the construction. If they demolish, there was no profit in it. Now ,that is what you call strategic planning.

THE fire that gutted De Nu Pub, Ma Pau and Sweet Lime on Ariapita Avenue last Sunday was neither deliberate nor related to the planned start of construction this May on a massive “Carnival City” hotel and entertainment complex at that site, Ma Pau chairman Sherry Persad said yesterday.

In a telephone interview with the Express, Persad was asked to address the circulation yesterday of what appeared to be a notification of intended development from Ward Hotel Ltd, owners of the property, to the Environmental Management Authority (EMA), in preparation for introducing residents in the area to the demolition of existing sites and massive construction to follow....http://www.trinidadexpress.com/20170327 ... deliberate
