UPDATE – POINT LISAS DESAL RESTARTED

The Water and Sewerage Authority (the “Authority”) advises customers in parts of Central and South Trinidad, who have been affected by planned repair works at the Point Lisas Desalination Plant, that these works have been completed.

The Desalination Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (“Desalcott”) owned and operated Plant returned to full operation at 3.00 p.m. on Sunday November 4th, 2017. It is expected that pipe borne water supply schedules will be normalised within thirty-six (36) hours.

It should be noted that Desalcott has advised the Authority that a further planned shutdown will be required due to additional maintenance works needed to be performed on the Desalination Plant. The Authority will communicate with customers regarding the proposed date and mitigation measures to be undertaken, as the time for these planned works approaches.

The Authority thanks customers for their patience and understanding during the recent disruption in service caused by the maintenance at the Desalination Plant.

This has become necessary in order to carry out emergency repair works at the Plant.
