The point of these changes is to make squeeze water from stone. Why would you implement stuff to deter from that? Redoing lines ot ensuring that innocent persons not caught not helping the bottom line
redmanjp wrote:so wait 3 days to go for BOTH the Red Light Camera enforcement and the Demerit Points system to take effect?

Have all the white lines in the country been redone to ensure ppl don't accidentally trigger the sensor by stopping a lil to far?

Under the new system, seven demerit points for newly licensed drivers and ten demerit points for drivers holding a licence for a period longer than a year could lead to disqualification.

Using a wireless communication device to view, send or compose an electronic message while driving or having charge of a vehicle carries a fixed penalty fine of $1,000 and the award of six demerit points.

Exceeding the specified speed limit by 31 km or more per hour carries a fixed penalty fine of $3000 and six demerit points.

Careless driving – six demerit points.

Wha is shoulder driving considered?

Drivers found with illegal firearms should also be disqualified for life

Those are low demerit point offences. Driving a vehicle that is not inspected is 9 demerit points.
Refusing a breathalyser test is 14.
Don't make the mistakes of doing those.

I assume all traffic lights are fitted with it or selected ones suited for the govt to get money in high risk areas?

Probably not yet. We would likely notice the cameras? But again at least the white lines by the ones already equipped should be prominent so u doh match ppl accidentally. Also the yellow light times is a concern. If it change too fast ppl getting ketch. There was a US city that deliberately shorten the yellow light to ketch ppl but this was found out. Not only did they adjust the time but the cameras were removed as well

Like you pay for your licences. Careless driving as worded is what the police will hit you when they in a bad mood and have nothing else to hit you with. Its subsection a Roman numeral V1

Phone holders and dash consoles make no difference, it is still a possible infraction.

This is follows similar legislation and studies in the UK and US that text and social media messaging distractions add 35 to 70 feet of stopping distance for the average driver. In comparison, the same tests show that being legally intoxicated added 4 feet.

The law says touching or holding mobile communication device.
I hope they start enforcing that, I encounter cellphone idiot drivers everyday.

Just realise that when they say "driving or in charge of a vehicle," in charge could mean park up on the side of the road getting you a ticket if you on the phone.

So police Bike officers were out this morning on the Shoulder East/West corridor, they are so backwards in this country, the law is already there that youre not supposed to be on the shoulder, just HIDE and allow those illegal ignorant idiots to go onto the shoulder and then hold them for breaking the law slap a huge fine on them or start the demerit process and lets start ridding our roads of these fools.

Most of the Traffic law brakers are Cops, they somehow feel they can do as they please

ohhh that last one, if really applied, would clean up that stink culture we have in this country. From taxis to all the delinquent parents who love to do this. Saturday I saw a child about 3 years old standing in the front seat of a small delivery goods truck while i had stopped to allow his father to reverse the vehicle in front me into the road.

Points system will be recorded by a register at Licensing Authority...thats my concern, will this be COMPUTERIZED and backup up offsite so that it cannot be tampered with or will this be another hand written card that ca conveniently get misplaced so to speak... these recordings should be done by a third party...............

So is it a fancy app/handheld device that officers/wardens will use to give out tickets? As in we move away from pen and paper?

AMENDED : NO POINT DEDUCTION FOR TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS THIS MONTH

Works and Transport Minister Rohan Sinanan reveals that the points system will take effect next month. Errant motorists will only receive warnings for any violation during the month of March.
