Yesterday the incompetent Rohan Sinanan, Minister of Works and Transport along with a tweet from the Minister of Finance asserted that the Galleons Passage would arrive today by 2:00pm “new and in perfect condition”. I was accused of lying when in a press release I indicated that all was not well with the journey to Trinidad by the Galleons Passage.
With binoculars in hand at the Port of Port of Spain on Galleons Passage watch I anxiously awaited the arrival of the vessel at the tweeted arrival time of 2:00pm. NIDCO by 1:00pm, however issued a release indicating that the vessel would arrive later but sometime today as it is close. I TOLD YOU SO.
According to NIDCO the delay is a result of “the vessel is still experiencing strong currents and has reduced its speed accordingly”. We as a population is expected to believe this information without question.
Monitoring the voyage of the Galleons Passage and consulting with Maritime experts suggests that there is something more in the mortar than the pestle.
Monitoring of the vessel reveals as follows:
The Galleons Passage recorded speeds are recorded as follows,
Departure Cuba, 07/07/2018 11.1kts, Waypoint 17 48N 74,52W 11/07/18@0720hrs 9.3kts,
Waypoint 3 16 37N 73 42W 11/07/18@2031 7.3kts,
Waypoint 4 16 16N 72 55W 12/07/2018)0326hrs 7.5kts,
Waypoint 5 15 43N 71 45W 12/7/18 @1229 8.1kts,
Waypoint 6 15 15N 70 46W 12/7/18@2210hrs 9.2kts
Waypoint 7 14 32N 69 14W 13/7/18@0723hrs 8.5kts.
Waypoint 8 13 56N 67. 56 W 13/7/18 @ 1852hrs 6.5kts.
Waypoint 9 13 14N 6634W 14/7/18@0925hrs 5.4Kts
After consulting Maritime experts, the conclusion is that this information implies that there is an issue, current does not affect a vessel with the capability to do 20 kts so badly as usually you would just simply increase speed. It is suspected that the vessel is now running now on 2 engines clutched in to save fuel.
Waypoint 10 12,52N 65 50W 14/7/18@ 1812hrs 6.4 kts
Waypoint 11 12.32N 65 12W@0035hrs, 6.5kts
Waypoint 12 12 15N 64 35W 15/07/18@ 0711hrs 6.9kts
Waypoint 13 11 52 N 63 51W 15/07/18@1343hrs, 6.6kts.
Waypoint 14 11 39N 63 26W 15/7/18@1950hrs 5.3kts
Waypoint 15 11.39N 63 26W 15/07/18 5.3kts
Waypoint 16 11 33N 63 15W 15/7/18@2229hrs 3.7kts.
This information now suggests now that the vessel is now at this point down to 1 engine or waiting on the fuel barge to go under way replenishment.
Waypoint 17 11 29N 63 07W 16/7/18@0050hrs 4.1kts,
Waypoint 18 11 22n 62 53W 16/7/18@0456hrs 3.5kts,
Waypoint 19 11 19N 62 47W 16/7/18@0637hrs 3.7kts,
Waypoint 20 11 12N 62 36 W 16/7/18@0954hrs No Speed Recorded
Waypoint 21 11 10N 62 32W 16/7/18@ 1100hrs 4.0Kts
Waypoint 20 its current position is 47 miles from the Grand Boca, and doing 4.5-5kts ETA Port of Spain now 0200hrs 17/7/18kts,
Is the government really that brazen that they would have us believe that a boat that can do 20Kts service speed, cannot make headway at more than 5kts for the last 12 hours.
It is time for incompetent Minister Rohan Sinanan and Minister Colm Imbert to allow professional technical experts to present the facts to the population. The Rowley Administration can wish away this issue by name calling those who have pointed out the challenges of the Galleons Passage.
Had the procurement of the vessel for the sea bridge gone through a proper transparent process with qualified and experienced persons the country would not be a witness to this national disgrace.

Any sensible person will know not to believe this man. Maybe the ghost writing business for Sat slow down and corruption money running low so he getting desperate. As a former Agriculture Minister I suggest he go plant some bodi and baigan and keep his nonsense spewing mouth shut.

...This means plans for additional retrofitting have been halted.
One of the major modifications that was planned for the vessel was the covering of the sundeck, which has the capacity to seat 100 passengers.
But Sinanan said a decision was taken to allow passengers to experience the open air seating and give feedback on whether the sundeck should be kept or covered.
He said if passengers decide the deck should be covered, this will be done after the July/August vacation.
But he noted that travelers, particularly tourists, may enjoy the open air experience...

I am sorry for the middle seat passengers in some of those seating areas. Not even an arm rest between the seats. Some poor soul will have to deal with a fat mampie falling asleep, leaning over and crushing him to death during the course of the trip.
All the people who vetted the purchase of that boat needs to be fired. Not surprisingly, this PNM is just as bad as the PP. This country has no future as long as we only have those two parties to choose from.
