Yea. But the thing is they must have some level of intelligence/evidence before moving on the arrest so they are sitting on matters with the intent to move when convenient as opposed to actual justice.
Dizzy28 wrote:TBH what were they expecting to find at his house almost 3 years since he was AG?
I can't imagine that a man involved in the justice system would willingly keep evidence for so long at his place of residence that may incriminate him later on in life.
Gaspard concluded that "although there is evidence of inequality of treatment in the granting of a licence to Citadel Ltd, which is a breach of a constitutional right, this evidence does not meet the higher standard of proof required for proof of a criminal offence, which is proof beyond a reasonable doubt; nor is the evidence sufficient to prove all the different elements of the offence of misconduct/ misbehaviour in public office."
The information gathered during the probe, however, showed that the advice from the Telecommunications Division top officials was ignored, documents were deliberately altered and Citadel's application was "outside the usual procedure" before it was approved by Cabinet, according to the DPP's letter.
.....Misconduct in public office in contrast is a serious criminal offence, the proof of which requires cogent and compellable evidence,"

However, i doubt they would arrest a person like anand without concrete evidence
so it was probably a long time coming.
Its about time government officials are held accountable for their actions.

why send 12 police vehicles to pick up a former AG/ present attorney/senior counsel
they could have politely requested he present himself to answer questions

Definitely reeks of overkill, and an attempt to embarrass the former AG. Even the Express found out where he was, and spoke to him. Phillip and the entire TTPS couldn't do that?

litmus test of standard of proof seems to be met in the case of A.Ramlogan

If it always have bacchanal....the timing will always be suspicious.
I have to believe that the TTPS has to have real cogent solid evidence to make this arrest.
They must know that unless this yields real relevant proportionate results before elections....they will lose votes where they need it.
