27 million in damages plus interest because PNM terminated a contract made between the previous government and a local tech firm over the T&T Smart Card system

Just to be fair, I'd make noise too if we were paying a US$150 million (TT$975m) loan for a facility that collapsed days after part of the Solomon Hochoy Highway also caved in, because the construction was allowed to go forward in close proximity to the earthquake prone Central Range fault line? Especially when the PP still seems to be hiding the structural engineering report they commissioned? Why all the secrecy around the report? And to make matters worse, despite all the smoke and mirrors during the 2015 election run-up, the facility was STILL not operational and had no mortuary, no autopsy facilities and no incinerator for the disposal of medical waste? Close to TT$1Bn? Really? Aight then. Cool.

The idea behind Couva Hospital was for health tourism as a hotel and a shopping complex was phase 2 and 3 on the same lands. Brilliant idea but poor location.

I agree with you, UWI seismic research unit was warning about that fault line for years yet we still went and build there. It was easier to expand the Couva Distrct Health Facility and build a fully equipped hospital as their are empty lands on the south and east of the facility towards Camden Road.

If they were hiding the structural engineering report, Rowley or Deyalsingh now should make it public.

Yet almost 3 years later, it is still "not operational?" Whose fault is that? The PNM grudgingly talked some sheit about public/private partnership for running of the hospital, so whatever issues are not insurmountable it seems. It can't be money, because sod was turned for hospitals in Arima and Pt. Fortin. Then again, the same $1B was spent on a non-ICC accredited stadium, which took 12 years to build, so the priorities for this PNM Government are crystal clear.
