A scrap iron dealer that sold the trains to Brazil.

It was a collaboration between him and the then new car dealers lobbying PNM to scrap the trains.

French Creoles made a mint with new car sales and insurance.

At the same time NP was formed.

Was always on PNM agenda just like they got rid of Caroni.

1% lined up the dots by getting investing in energy in the 2000s

Sad part is tax payers to foot bill while new owners will most likely get tax breaks.

Redman go want proof but as before he's always late in the dance and he can't read future upcomings.

Selling petrotrin to a private entity saves the government from having to deal with roget. Re evaluation of all jds and assessment on a full days work. Reality is that all government run insitutions are overstaffed and underproductive..

Yep but your can't have a monopoly on labour. The 1% will do as they please when it comes paying ppl.

Ansa pays ppl crappy and treats them like trash.

Our labour laws are primitive and protects emoyers.

They have to obey their masters at this stage

Fact is government must stick to running a country rather than ruining a bussiness.

Do I support selling Petrotrin?
Yes and all other goverments businesses .

Only problem is workers will be taken advantage of because or our weak labour laws.

In the end new owners win
Tax payers loose
Workers reduced to indenturedship type work.
Soon it will impossible to change jobs as 1% takes over energy companies.
We have seen what IPSL did with PT Lisas, at one stage it was difficult to change jobs as there was a pack among the estate companies to stop workers jumping ships

Thats a yes.

Of course the rest about labor laws is speculative

And the rest of the energy sector may provide an indication of the private sector treats with its workers.

and before you cherry pick there are many on both sides of the fence on that.

Our labour laws protects the employers.

Employers have the world of lawyers
You as an individual without a union is ketch arse for you.
Plus your lawyer can't be trusted as most often they are brought out by your employer.

Nothing is in favour as you the worker
It's one of reasons why I stopped working in Trini

If this so, then why is Ancil Roget trying to tell everyone how to restructure petrotrin and nobody telling Ancil Roget how to be a GOOD union leader....... notice I said GOOD and not better or best!

Maybe the answer is in this statement "You as an individual without a union is ketch arse for you".... so in other words, if the labour laws provide sufficient protection for the workers, the unions might become redundant!

No where close to the % above.
Trinmar is the crown jewel.
Trinmar is not the crown jewel, it does not produce enough ie 28000 bpd to make a dent via crude sales. The real money is made via refined products.
The refinery however, requires mostly imported crude to operate at 160000bpd. The trick is that not all crude is the same, Petrotrin buys a lot of cheap crude of lower quality, but is still able to sell products at close to top market prices ie margins. ImageImage

The real jewels in Petrotrin are the new and upgraded plants, but all the potential is wasted by poor management, poor utilities and a bloated workforce. Not to mention the debt payments that are due in 2019 and 2022......as a result of poor management.

I ain't too sure the labor laws protect employers
At the end of the day all of the state agencies are over staffed, overpaid. U derperforming
And the employers cannot do anything about it due to union powers

Maybe the truth is more along the lines of "the laws protect PRIVATE employers". Hence the reason Arcelormittal was literally able to F#(k the Union and their members up the arse with little consequence.

Is only Government eh have the balls to deal with them, that's why they can hold the country to ransom. Just think back to the rationalization given by Sh!tkicker last year after acceding to the OWTU when they threatened to shut down Petrotrin... :|

It's not about strength and will, he reaching to the point that he doesn't have a choice. Best believe if energy prices was up, he would have done the same as previous governments and eat ah food.

Correction.
he eh bring it...

dem wells still capped.

There must be a reason that there is a company that is accused of a 12m USD fraud...and no one has thought to limit the company's ability to liquidate assets and move money.

get assets and money out....claim bankruptcy when you lose case...

Downpayment on both sides of the coin? Don't we have a SC opposition leader?

BTW, was/ is AV the only lease operator? or the only lease operator to get caught?
Is it that he "took one for the boys" or was he being too greedy?
I have heard people say that he used to boast that he and Rowls sleep in the same bed and eat from the same plate and Rowls did admit to calling him when he heard about it which was very inappropriate.

Why sell to a private company who are known financiers of a political party?

Can't they simply restructure, resource allocate and trim the fat themselves?

The privatization of country's resources never ends up working for the population. Trickle down does not exist in this economy. Look at Russian mineral wealth which was sold to the oligarchs.

Well you asking is OVER INVOICING is uncommon.
Maybe a little uncommon for actual oil-but its been happen for YEARS.
While they hanging one man-there is a bunch of people still un named that did/doing their part in the racket.

Petrotrin like every other state enterprise is the place where over invoicing is the norm.

Consumable supplies disappear, the co is invoiced for work not done, for goods not received, material disappears...jobs set up to max out over time.

From toilet paper up to oil there are illegal activities that abound.

From employees charging for services the co provides to management lining their nest egg with lump sum retirement packages, then coming back as consultants-despite retiring for health reasons. Signed off by the President of the co no less

The tax payer pays for that.

There are alot of small enterprises (catering, landscaping, etc), communities, religious bodies and schools that have benefitted from Petrotrin.

When it is privatised, I hope the wider community doesn't complain of Petrotrin being a selfish entity.
