I disagree, I don't believe its the education system is the problem, schools teach english, there is no class called "slang text 101" or "shorthand writing 102". We all did english from primary school go up and I would hope passed CXC english A. If more people would pick up books and READ they'd be in a better position and also have the common sense to know how to switch when necessary. No one is saying you can't text in short hand or colloquial jargon but know the time and place
