They made some $$$$$ there though.

Granted I doubt it was as much as they would make enforcing that 80km/h on a highway, but that's why they have 9 more SGs. Casting a wider net.

^^Makes more sense. At least 30-60mins before school starts, lunch time, and ending time. Slowing down to 30kph at 1am makes no sense.

Also schools should have zebra crossings that MUST be respected. By motorists AND pedestrians. (Yes all must be respected eh, but it's Trinidad. Even police park on zebra crossings. Let's start small).

It appears that when the limit was 80km ppl were pushing the envelope to over that. It seems the same is being adopted now at 100km as ppl were doing in excess of the limit but please continue to do so as they would get caught and give the govt money they supposedly require.

I thought Hinds said that our roads were not designed for over 80 km/hr. While people driving daily over 80 km/hr.

What infrastructural work was done to make this speed increase possible?

The limit on rural roads though should have been raised to 65kmh..or even 60kmh...cause i mean 50kmh is really too slow on these roads

Not sure which rural roads you drive on. But the ones that I have to drive on, based on the condition and the geometry, the 50km/h speed limit is more than fine.

The Justice on Time vans usually have police escorts though. The irony of them flying up the highway, transporting prisoners with speeds and driving tactics that are hazardous to themselves, the prisoners and other drivers on the road, is that the justice system is so backlogged that they might take some years before their cases are even called in any case..so why the rush?

Cause if they decide to make a break for it in transit, the police may not know what to do..Duh!

Accident at divali nagar. Ppl on Facebook wondering if the increased limit had anything to do with it but rain had also just fell.

Perhaps they should enforce the previous 80 during rain?

Or allow common sense to hopefully prevail (drivers reducing speeds in wet conditions)

Case by case basis.

Like some places on the Naparima mayaro stretch is 50, when it should really be 40.

Whereas the m2 ring road can be 60 in some areas and 40 at a few corners. Some of the bends are even comfortable at 80.
But the whole thing at 40, and it's unnecessary.

just witnessed an accident in stand still traffic. A sedan tailgating an ambulance by over 4 car lengths. So when the cars part Mrs driver squeezing down the middle hard almost hits a hilux pulling back into his lane. Instead of trying to now meld behind she proceeds to try and overtake the hilux so as to resume her ambulance escort. Hilux guy realizing what sheit the woman trying to do stopped moving and like she didn't expect it and hits him. now i was adjacent to this and saw the entire thing go down so as they jump out the hilux driver says well lets go to the police and the reply he got had the man cussing in the middle of the road. The woman tells him flat out she not going to the police station because she is a MP. By this time the traffic in front had moved so i went about my business but im sure the hilux driver knew he was going and get that hit before it happen.

TLDR
that 100km/h isn't the [problem with our drivers is kantery and impatience....

Most pickups are now allowed to go at 100 km/h but you're right about the trucks because with the one speed trap I got caught in and the countless others I passed through, I have never, ever seen any 'T' vehicle bigger than a Hilux or the like at the side of the road, awaiting a ticket and it's strange because those guys, the delivery trucks, the dump trucks, truck/trailers, etc. are usually doing some serious numbers.

So you say the Woman say she was an MP??....Can't be hard to determine who it is (if true) given there are 12 female MPs including well known ones like KPB and Marlene.
