I will do like all the idiots who "know" about petrotrin employees:

So perks of a Minister are as follows:
1) $100,000.00 living allowance
2)$500,000.00 entertainment allowance
3) $400,000.00 Phone Bill credit
4) $600,000.00 Vehicle allowance
5) Unlimited Boat Rydes
6) $700,000.00 Weave allowance
7) $2000.00 Side piece allowance

1. Moonilal had is Phd before entering electoral politics.

2. Not only ministers but all MPs get full vehicle exemptions every 2 years. They should still get an exemption but subjected to an engine size and it should be once per elected term ie 5 years.

3. Imbert also has a Macan after returning as a minister and it is rumoured that his mustang was yellow... unc colour but he had it repainted.

Allyuh studying jet ski? That rhetoric is part of what was on the campaign trail. Ask any body where he has these properties they can't answer. Its one of those , " they say " or " ah hear" things. How come nobody ever gets charged for all these accusations? Both sides.
The one in Gulf is Nam, the one in Clarke Rd is T.N .R , but " they" still saying is Moonilal.

Ok Tuner Dude :D

Don't you find it tax strange that the cars most likely to increase traffic were given exemptions ( less than 1600 CC ) ?

Practice what he preaches and allow for his own income to be taxed just the same. 5% pay cut won't "cut" it

They could get an exemption but make it up to 1599cc and CNG.

“Change the paradigm” all the talk about USD wastage . Ministers should walk the talk and remove this benefit.

What factors make them deserving of exemption?

Its substantially less for public officers though. IIRC the vat exemption is for a value up to 140k and the total max exemption (MVT + VAT)can't exceed something in the region of 34k.

According to the 98th SRC done in 2013:
Ministers Transport Facilities will constitute
A maximum loan of $350,000 at a rate of interest of 6% per annum repayable over a period of six (6) years to facilitate the purchase of either:-
a new motor vehicle with exemption from Motor Vehicle Tax, Value Added Tax and Customs Duty limited to the following maxima:
- Motor Vehicle Tax $30,000
- VAT $53,000
- Customs Duty $90,000
- A loan to cover the cost of Motor Vehicle Insurance premium at a rate of interest of 6% per annum.
- A maximum loan of $20,000 at a rate of interest of 6% per annum to effect repairs to a motor vehicle.
- A Transportation Allowance of $6,660 per month.
- A personal chauffeur.

Dunno if these still hold

If they believed they were statesmen and had a right to be addressed as 'Honourable' they'd be the first to suggest removal of the more frivolous perks, if not salary cuts.

We have to be taxed to hell and back to own something similar, but he can get away with it at our expense? Hell no.

And hope a snap election isn't called and you end up like Esther Le Gendre!!
Manning's miscalculated risk in 2010 meant that certain Ministers were unable to repay their car loans despite the tax breaks received.
