Thanks mate. My aim is to make a complete complete free video series for CXC / CSEC maths so anyone can pass maths from just watching the videos. :)

excellent idea....my suggestion...

try to make the videos more exam focused and syllabus oriented..

for example....
math multiple choice paper the 1st question is ALWAYS on fractions... so do a lesson on fractions and then pull the questions from past papers....and as a final do a real world example where fractions would be used.....

question #2 is trigonometry..,,same thing do lessons on that and pull questions and show how to work it.

real world scenarios would be helpful....too many ppl say " when in life i will ever use this type of math " and then fail and wonder why

Dear skylinechild,

Thanks you for the ideas. I will definitely do a past paper style video after i explain all the topics. I will definetly have mock exam videos and yes the MC is always tricky.

Thanks for the ideas and support mate

Great energy! Clear explanations.. Nice display of rules.

I like how you started from the very basic addition and subtraction.. I remember back when I did additional maths in form 6, men was still mixing up their signs.

Ah should show them this video

no prob man...

more feed back.... the real world scenarios would definitely be helpful...say you do a trigonometry question then give an example "

using land survey farmer bob has an acre of land he wants to divide into lots however he wants to have a triangular shaped plot and tow rectangles with dimensions XXX YYY....how can this be done...

give drawing of land and some dimensions and the angles to work with....."

try using broader markers as either i kinda blind or the lighting kinda sucks..
bigger white board and try to put the rules ( top right hand corner ) as transparent......

seeing something like this makes me want to attempt math again..... but i dunno....

What skyline said by a bazillion.

Sadly O levels and A level courses-are taught by academics with too little real world experience.

Starting with a problem and coming back into the formulas make the connection in a way that shows the POWER of the knowledge first -motivating the thirst to learn what otherwise maybe some esoteric set of numbers.

This is the kind if thing we need in T&T! I bought a graphics tablet to do sal khan type videos myself.... hopefully I will start soon.
I back what skyline said 100%. Real life examples are the best way to make people interested which makes the teaching-learning process run smoothly.

I wish teachers used real life examples to teach Maths when I was in secondary school. Especially for quadratic equations and so on.

I only appreciated vectors and trigonometry in studying astronautics.

Hi, Technical drawing... the last time I did that was in 1996 ... long time ago.. sorry mate. my next project after Maths will be Physics and then Additional Mathematics. I don't even know a technical drawing teacher but I'll aask some of my students if they know any good technical drawing teachers and I'll get back to u.

Fear not.. the creepy monster is harmless. He is also vegetarian and only eats street food (i.e. food that he finds lying on the street) . I am actually looking to name my mascot.. any suggestions?

Well actually I was talking with my wife (who is an English teacher) a few days ago about getting the English content in videos. She is camera why and will not want to be in a video.. can anyone suggest how we can get the material without her actually being on the video (I suck at english... so me teaching it is a No No lol)... and no she is not wearing a spiderman costume !!!!

BTW thanks for the kind comments :)

Wrt to Ur wife not being on camera, it's not a problem. Many productions on YouTube don't have a real Person in front the camera. But, from the long time videos on channel 4 to the YouTube videos of now, with and without a real presenter, u need to keep the visuals dynamic and engaging to keep the attention of the viewer. Usually they have animators or graphics people to come up with stuff to show.
U can check out TedED videos on YouTube for an example of how to keep the visuals engaging.

Do u have any real experience with teaching children now, as like a teacher or lessons teacher?
That would be helpful as a tool to see what children now addays respond to. For real world examples that they be interested in.

I just checked out TEDED.. its quite professional and really good I must say. Yes I'll have to try to work on my visuals. I'll have to sit and work out an plan for the english.. thanks for the advice and link.

Also I have been teaching for 12 years and yes I will definitely look at incorporating the real world examples for sure. I think I will make a montly video showing students how to use various topics in the real world :D.. thanks again

This is really interesting! I am doing the exact same thing! I am creating a series of FREE CXC CSEC Mathematics lessons on YouTube. No joke!
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsEC8o ... k-A67U9E3Q

As skylinechild suggested, I have made my videos exam focused and syllabus oriented and have already included worked Past Paper questions.
Rovin’s Audio, for me I have heard a lot of persons comment that they don’t have the money for private lesson. I figured if they had this resource, they would have one less excuse.

ilovelessons, All the best to you. I am glad that I have company. I have learnt in life that hearing something from a slightly different viewpoint makes all the difference. Hopefully, between us two and the other content out there, a dent is made on the literacy rate of CSEC Mathematics in Trinidad and Tobago, and the Caribbean by extension.
