Cooking gas discussion

Postby shake d livin wake d dead » November 1st, 2017, 7:24 am

This topic deserves a ched of it's own. I saw a report on this last night where Franklin Khan spoke of how much the subsidy is with respect to the price of cooking gas. If the subsidies are removed totally, the price of a 20lb tank would be approximately $56 while the price on a 100lb tank would be close to $300. Knowing how these idiots looking to tax the wind, do you think that they would remove it(even a partial amount).

Just imagine the new cost associated with food now...it forking frightening...

Your thoughts................ :|

The amount of food that you could cook with a 20lb tank of gas, doubling the price of the gas itself would not have much effect on the cost of the food.

Removing that subsidy might actually be a good thing, food not expensive in Trinidad but the people selling it are overcharging.

It will work itself out, removing the subsidy won't raise the price sameway removal of the diesel subsidy didn't raise the price of anything. What we had was competition, when the truck men wanted to charge the distributors more, they looked for other truck men who were glad for the contract and willing to charge the same.

Next question - how much is the subsidy on CNG?

What would the un-subsidized price of CNG be compared to what people are paying now?

So people loosing jobs, oil price low, foreign exchange consumption far greater than earning and the most innovative idea is to remove subsidies.....
I really want to consume less fuel in my vehicle but I spend hours in traffic everyday! How does this handshake work in the mind of the PM?
BTW isn't oil (Brent) expected to be at $60/ bbl until March next year? OPEC has been successful with production cuts and US stores are diminishing as we are about to enter winter in the north.

^ yes $60 however we need way more than that, in order to balance our corruption we need minimum of $100 a barrel. Doesn't matter if its UNC or PNM we need over $100 a barrel to balance the corruption.

The only one who was efficient at corruption was Panday he managed to run the racket at sometimes $9 a barrel which IMO was the most efficient PM when it came to corruption. Rowley needs to become more efficient at corruption, it shouldn't be this difficult for him. He clearly has little experience in this

And is that a reason to keep the subsidy??

The time to remove subsidies is when oil is priced at levels where the initial shock isnt to hard....

No good time but really if the consensus is that oil dead....then the prices will continue to fall.

This!!!
Cnc3 is less in the business of reporting news and more about making news.
If you play close attention to what they report you would see how they manipulate stories to increase shock value to get the population hot and sweaty...
They did it with petrotrin by releasing salaries and I also remember a time a doubles vendor husband getting shot and they recorded de man wife crying and screaming for a good 5 minutes to put it on TV.
They're just disgusting sometimes...

Is there a commercial rate for propane? Is natural gas cheaper than propane?
Thinking about the old kerosene range now!

Lest we forget that a review of electricity rates is also on the table, so let's see how well that goes.

Kudos for bringing a political point across without sounding like some of our fellow tuners and I couldn't agree more. I don't subscribe to the entitlement mentality, but the GoRTT is eyeballing every untaxed dollar and subsidized product with a sense of urgency and desperation as though they've tried everything to raise revenue and/or save the country's money to no avail, yet millions of dollars are withheld from the Treasury when they (Cabinet and Opposition alike) exploit their tax breaks on luxury vehicles to do 'work for their constituency'. Typical case of do as I say, but not as I do..
