they increased it but are they actually going to start charging people for not inspecting their vehicles? people get away with plenty in Trinidad to be honest. if local inspections were as stringent as in the US or England there would probably be almost no cars on the road. I remember reading this post where a person got failed for having bad wiper blades. they also do emissions tests as well. I see some cars smoking more than a forest fire on the highway at times

What is unfortunate is the fact that increases across the board seem to be the default strategy and one wonders how much more can the average individual tolerate.
A significant fact remains the lack of enforcement of regulations accounts historically for negative revenue results and the authorities inability to properly support the requirements for proper administration (always running out of stickers and other associated nonsense).

This government raise everything... immigration fee (landing deposit) to the fee at legal aid from $10 to $50... and don't forget, government worker ain't get pay yet for the month of October.

Lic officers will be out from Dec 1st for 5 weekdays straight, everybody will inspect their vehicles frantically, after a week the officers disappear into the dust and nuff money made.

Just my prediction

there are vehicles with inspection certificates that never graced the compound with their presence.

and that sticker sheit been going on way too long.
the sticker and the certificate both supposed to have the same number on them?

You get two , both a cert and sticker but most times you can't get the sticker

Motorists are once again being warned to have their vehicles in order while using the nation’s roadways.

This warning comes from senior officials in the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) and the Licensing Office, who noted that as of today, exercises would be “ramped up” throughout the country to target errant motorists.

Part of the focus of these exercises would be placed on defective vehicles and vehicles being driven without inspection stickers.

LoopTT was told that inspection stickers were once again available at various inspection bays throughout the country so motorists had no excuse not to get their vehicles inspected and to be outfitted with the relevant document/sticker.

Furthermore, motorists were reminded that failure to do this would result in a $5,000 fine.

According to Section 27(11) of the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act (48:50), “(a) registered owner of a private motor vehicle or motorcycle, public service motor vehicle, rental car, goods vehicle, omnibus or trailer, who fails to produce the vehicle for inspection or drives the vehicle without obtaining an inspection sticker and certificate in accordance these regulations commits an offence and is liable, on summary conviction, to a fine of $5,000.”

Private vehicles are to be inspected after five years from the manufacture date, not the registration date.

Transport vehicles are to be inspected one year after the date of licensing.
