World Cup 2018: Are beer-thirsty fans drinking Moscow dry?

It's been only a week since the World Cup started, but fans celebrating the tournament are drinking so much that Moscow is running low on beer.

Some bars and restaurants in the Russian capital said they are running dry, but the bigger problem seems to be the fact restaurants are having trouble getting the beer from their suppliers, according to Reuters.com.

Deliveries are taking nearly 24 hours, which is longer than usual, because the suppliers' stocks are also running low.

"We just didn't think they would only want beer," a waiter at an upscale joint in the city told Reuters. “There are really a lot of people in Moscow ... and they are all drinking."

nother issue could be that before the World Cup, beer sales dipped by nearly a third due to increased regulations on sales and advertising over the past 10 years in Russia. Reuters notes brewers did not expect such a reversal of the trend this year.

The only good news for Moscow is as teams are eliminated from the World Cup, fans will likely exit the country.

Luis Suarez - Uruguay 1 - Saudi Arabia 0 - 23min

Saudi coach Juan Antonio Pizzi rang the changes after the opening-game hammering by Russia, making four changes to his starting line-up.

Their general performance was much better but inexperienced keeper Mohammed Al-Owais, who came in for Abdullah Al-Mayouf, was at fault for Suarez’s goal.

Not happy with Monday's officiating - England complain to FIFA about the use of VAR

FIFA 'extremely satisfied' with VAR and refereeing

FIFA will study and look into the use of VAR at the World Cup, with England upset at the way their 2-1 victory over Tunisia was officiated.

Although they won the Group G match, the British side felt they could have been awarded two penalties for fouls on Harry Kane.

FA technical director Dan Ashworth presented a report which explains how the English side's chances were harmed.

While FIFA have already dismissed a complaint from Brazil and have stated that they are extremely satisfied with how VAR has been used, there will be a meeting about the system next week, after which the decisions taken with respect to VAR will be published.

Fifa World Cup 2018: England players use bug spray as swarm of gnats flies into their eyes and mouths during Tunisia match
Players cover themselves with insect repellent before the game and at halftime in Russia, but to little effect

England and Tunisia players swatted away swarms of gnats that flew into their eyes and mouths during their opening World Cup game in Russia’s riverside city of Volgograd on Monday.

The area around Volgograd is known for its swamps and wide rivers, the perfect breeding ground for insects during the hot and dry summer in the Russian south.

Russian media said authorities used planes in the months before the game to spray the area around the stadium, which is next to the massive Volga river, with a special substance designed to kill off the bugs.

Authorities also tried to regulate the flow of water at a nearby hydroelectric dam which locals believe has a direct effect on the number of insects.

Players still had to cover themselves with bug spray before the game and at halftime, but that seemed to have little effect.

“There were a lot more than I first thought … some of them in your eyes, some of them in your mouth,” said England captain Harry Kane, who scored twice including a stoppage-time header to lead his side to a 2-1 victory.

His teammate Raheem Sterling looked particularly bothered by the tiny gnats circling his face before the start of the second half.

Tunisia’s Ferjani Sassi was also pestered by them before the took a penalty – but he still managed to convert it and equalise for the African side.

The coaches were not distracted by the insects.

“I did not feel the midges because I was so focused on the team, on the game,” Tunisia’s Nabil Maaloul said.

A 10-year-old boy from Bengaluru on Tuesday created history by becoming the first ever Indian to be an official match ball carrier in the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia.

Rishi Tej, who is from Bengaluru, became the first Indian to have lived a dream at the biggest stage in football, during the Group G match between Belgium and Panama.

Rishi was quoted as saying by India Today, “I am so excited, you cannot measure it even. It is like I am still dreaming. In Russia, I want to live every moment. During the match, I just don’t want to enjoy but analyse how they play.”

Rishi is not the only Indian to feature in the World Cup as the Official Match Ball Carriers (OMBC), as Nathania John K from Andhra Pradesh will be seen on the field during the Group E match between Brazil and Costa Rica on Friday.

It is a well-known fact that the World Football Cup is a festive event and it brings together people from all over the globe every four in celebration of the sport they love.

The passion and excitement are overflowing. But these two female fans gave new meaning to the word passion when they decided to engage in a long, hot kiss. The sexy, steamy kiss of the two ladies, apparently a Russian and Mexican, went viral on the web.

So there was "talk" of deducting points from Mexico because their fans shouted a racial slur at Neuer. They've since been fined £7,600 and issued a warning.

...looks like an attempt to throw the Mexicans off their game because the European mofos see them as a real threat in this tournament.
