ENGADGET - The new Tesla Roadster will do zero to 60 in 1.9 seconds, and it'll blast through a quarter mile in 8.9 seconds, before reaching a top speed of over 250 MPH.

Oh, and it's a four-seater.

Musk called it, "a hardcore smackdown to gasoline cars." The car is due in 2020 so start saving up all your nickels and dimes now -- the cost is $200,000, with a $50,000 reservation to get in line for a base model. Of course, there are also 1,000 "Founders Edition" Roadsters also available, provided you're willing to pony up for the full $250k price right away.

Look how far electric cars have come with about 15 years of development, faster than any gasoline car, meanwhile the gasoline engine has been in development like 120+ years

^ yup that’s market control. Tesla does not conform to that. Musk is out to prove a point.
Even here we don’t get updated models, hybrid versions etc because the manufacturer wants to ensure they get maximum sales for each platform before upgrading. Economies of scale and all that.

That’s business and industry.
Look at the Concorde, supersonic commercial air travel that started in the early 1970’s yet 40 years later in 2017 we are still taking 7 hours for trans Atlantic flights, even with the newest Airbus A330neo launched last month.
