Hope public servants know that they can't hold the public to ransom anymore.
This should apply to all government departments and jobs

With their good fortune it may very well be Kallco.

ANY one that spent 5 minutes listening to the JSC on the State enterprises would see that there are significant similarities in the issues.
Poor governance and little over site is certainly the main problem.
The other UNIONs that negotiate aggressively for wage and compensation -but totally ignore the requirement for better productivity and accountability.
-CAL-Pilots -the highest paid, get 20 plus free flights-some take as much as 100 per year.-TALPA silent
-Petrotrin-OWTU striking-but we have the lowest per capita oil production that Ive been able to find.
-PSA-Where to start????-but suffice it to say that we have low tax and duty capture-and a massive illegal alien problem....Som action was taken-Management says meeehknownah and the workers say that most of the absentees were on scheduled leave.
-NIB NOW admits being insolvent.......despite this being obvious for 10+ years. ..Where dearssssssssssssssse were the audit and actuarial personnell for the last 15 years?????
The above costing us billions a year-directly and indirectly-ALL of us-not just PNM or UNC ALLLL
Dillons response doesnt have to be perfect.... but sheeeiit to me it looks like a good start

The national security minister says automatic kiosks to replace the immigration desks at the airport should be in place by carnival next year.
The minister was responding to questions regarding what measure have been put in place to ensure there is no recurrence of what transpired on Sunday, November 12th when several immigration officers stayed away from work causing arriving passengers to wait for hours to be processed.
Minister Dillon says while investigations into that incident are ongoing, there are new contingency plans.
Which includes the implementation of the kiosks as well as training retirees to be on standby.

You only need one officer to view and stamp the passports, plus your entry record is digitized with you getting a print out with your pic and details etc. the process is a lot quicker in my opinion.
Saw this in effect in Jamaica with only two immigration officers alongside 4 kiosks (iirc). One person assisting at the kiosks and one person verifying and stamping. The shock factor of having a machine speed up the experience alone should get immigration officers on their toes and fighting for their jobs.

T&T passports are machine readable.
Duane 3NE 2NR wrote:On the other side, departures security check was also a mess. They changed from two gate entries to just one, so ALL flights for ALL gates had to join ONE line to pass through security. The line was up to the escalator at the end of duty free and snaked through the top floor. That was in August. Dunno if they changed it since.
