BOIII, they should handle u up quickly once u carry it back. Shouldnt have a problem. Lemons is a thing, dont be alarmed. Came across newish vehicles that was properly well porked by 20k ect. Drain nut gasket damaged, diesel fuel clips broken, wire connectors not properly attached to mounting points. ect

personally i know exactly what does happen in them places, i will stick to a foreign used or buy brand new and handle from the 10k service onwards.

This is one of our rangers 29,000km

The xlt model carry a plastic cover ontop the engine so it quiet down what op is hearing. Once the hood is closed you don’t hear anything “unusual”

yes, doesnt sound unusual

maybe op not accustomed to modern high pressure injector diesel sound
only the hilux 1kd,2kd still have the old school diesel sound

Don't seem normal to me, I've serviced a few and they not that loud, but, fleet experience should be better.

Always thought them to be pretty quiet for a diesel actually.

Engine sounds normal for a 2.2. The plastic engine cover has some sound deadening material to help suppress the engine noise.
Nothing to be alarmed about but still take it in if u feel uncomfortable.

Let them start some others in the showroom for reference.

Most of those new car ppl run those vehicles hard from port to storage

I agree with tthis as it is new brand. Although it sounds typical, let both buyer and dealer be on the same page.

Next ting u know a bearing really gone, and the dealer say u run it so long and didn't bring it in.

Is that the wind in the background is the additional sound that OP is complaining about ?otherwise if this first clip is the sound then that the normal pound sound of a Diesel engine but definitely let the firm check it. Sounds normal to me but why is the engine bay so dusty so fast though ?dont they give it a wipe down before he handed it over
