A couple that came to the Usine/Ste Madeleine reservoir to fish on Monday morning, found death instead.
The two said they arrived at around 1045a.m. and pulled up under a tree, only to spot the submerged hood of a vehicle, a while AD station wagon, in the pond which is about a kilometre in circumference.
They called the police. Fire fighters went into the water and found the body of a man in the back seat.
The vehicle was pulled from the water and crime scene officers searched the vehicle.
They found that a brick had been lodged on the accelerator to keep it depressed.
It is suspected that the vehicle travelled along the gravel road for some distance before going into the water at a fast rate of speed.
The identity of the man was not immediately known.
The Usine/Ste Madeleine reservoir is one of the few recreation spots for people living in the surrounding communities. It has been the scene of multiple killings and drownings over the years.
