To be honest it looks totally out of place in the general landscape; couldn't we have a more 'green' design instead of just mass of paved surface?

Looking back at the photo, it does give a sense of more parking and less beach. So in essence, what are you all saying? Has this killed the true nature and beauty of what we know as our jewel of Trinidad, our internationally known Maracas Bay?
Is one to merely lounge on a $40 chair and sip a Stag, gazing off to the waves as they break, dotted by the beautiful bodies prancing around in their two pieces, some playing volleyball, some strolling around with a sense of purpose, oh is one to lounge and reminisce about the old times? What now, oh bake and kingfish eating Trini, what now?

The entire exercise of Relocating the main road in front of Maracas to Behind the car park was LOST- funny how even though it was budgeted for due to all of the infrastructure that needed to be put in place, you didn't seem to hear about any beach refurbishments costing the tax payers LESS.

Just a thought!

I remember the days when the parking lot was in the areas where the 'soggy sand' now lives and having to really sqeeze beteen some small trees/bush to fit more than a few cars, the mangrove on the southern side of the NC Road was full of wildlife and jumping off the bridge by the river was safe.

Anyway though that carpark idea looks nice on paper what happens to all the carpark runoff when it rains? That is loads of old car oil, chicken/duck bones, plastic any styrofoam waste etc? How is that being reatined and disposed of or will it just end up in the mangrove again?

Where are the green spaces, whether it be grass, shady trees or even a few croton to give the carpark some degree of habitat replacement for what was taken away.

I am all for development but can we just get it right for once?

Are you illiterate?

Most people are far happier with the carpark when compared to what it was.

It's more of a damned if you don't, but you'll also be damned if you do and do a crappy job.

Went yesterday and saw no washroom/change-room facilities anywhere. Dunno if it just well hidden or there is none.

There are washrooms located behind Uncle Sam bake and shark place. Small area. Temporary building. Poorly kept.

There was no traffic heading in or out. Reached there around 2.50pm and left around 6pm. The car park was open but there were no staff manning the booths so parking was free. I am assuming that will not be so for long.

are you referring to the location after the gas station at the end of the beach? if so, i think those have been there at least since 1995.

^^nope. Not the bar, the bake and shark place where they temporarily relicated everyone. I think he is just after Richards. The washroom is hidden behind.
