Motorcyclist/Scooter and Driver Surveys

Postby quench » February 21st, 2018, 9:58 am

Good day all,

I'm getting some feedback for my final project and your input would be greatly appreciated. The project looks at the impact of using mobile alerts to improve biker conspicuity. There are two questionnaires; one for bikers and the other for drivers, but If you fall in both categories, feel free to answer both.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

Cheers

You should redefine biker to motorcyclist. A lot of folks bike using cycles and can misinterpret

Also in driver survey, should include a none option:
Plenty folks ignore their phones while driving.

Which smartphone alert grabs your attention easiest while driving?
Ringing
Vibration
Flashing Light
On-Screen Notification

not only that technology can mitigate some of the risks of phone calls while driving.. ie bluetooth headset..
car stereo with bluetooth....

sometimes its not as simple & dry as saying ok...phone rings its a distraction....

more modern phones tell you who the caller is and you decide via voice ( siri or cortana or whatever) if you want to answer or not.

SMS can be replied to when u not driving.

Thanks to all who have taken the time to do the survey so far, the feedback is greatly appreciated. And thanks for the comments as well, all questions and comments are welcome. Like these:

I can see how that might be misleading, I'll see how I can clear that up in the Post Subject and the survey name.

With this question I wanted to capture which is most likely to get driver attention, and I'm willing to bet that most drivers do have their phones available while driving, even if they don't want to interact with it. I actually don't want the driver interacting with the phone either; an audible alert with a definitive sound should do the trick, but tactile alerts may work just as well. But to your point, the drivers who ignore their phones by taking them off completely or otherwise, won't be able to use a solution which requires getting their attention so I'm not sure it would be info I would want to capture. That's my thinking on it.

If its a motor scooter then no licence required.

But you do need a driving permit. Once you get a permit you can ride any size bike.
