Breaking news: Residents evacuated as Coastal erosion claims five houses in Cedros

Trinidad and Tobago Weather Center: Evacuations Ongoing in Bamboo Village, Cedros, Southwestern Trinidad as coastal erosion claims five houses and leaves 20 homeless.

Evacuation efforts are underway in Cedros at this time as two homes were washed into the sea at around 3PM this afternoon, due to coastal erosion. Another three homes followed.

Councillor Shanka Teelucksingh says he received a call just after 2 pm from the residents.

When he got there, the residents were in the process of removing their belongings when the structure began to give way.

All of the occupants managed to escaped when the structures slipped into the sea.

Four other homes are considered dangerous at this time and residents are in the process of being evacuated.

i think there is obviously a lack of proper investigation in where people build houses, but you still have to sympathize with these individuals who lost their homes in the blink of an eye. hopefully everyone is ok

The squatter question in many instances is a 'red-Herring' which is thrown into the mix to avoid the states responsibility.
Many of the residents have been living there for generations with all the utilities and infrastructure in place.
As a little boy, I remember spending lots of time on the beach and enjoying its bounty, sadly its all gone for many years now.
