Tuners need to investigate
Businessman enjoys protection from police, customs and immigration as he gives… LADIES OF THE NIGHT – for political favours and State contractsA South-based businessman has paid a huge US-dollar bribe to a radio talk show host to derail an exposé on his connection with senior government ministers who have been feeding him State contracts.
Colombian ProstitutesThe businessman, according to Sunshine sources, has been plying his friends in the government with Colombian prostitutes at his brothel, which is located in the heart of San Fernando, as well as “wild meat” from his hunting camp hidden deep in the forest of Guayaguayare. He reportedly enjoys protection from immigration, customs, and police officers for his illegal activities since he also bribes influential officers in the Southland with women, wild meat, and money. Sometimes, the sources said, police officers accompany him when he goes “from place to place.”
The businessman, whose wife is from Venezuela, has been attracting a lot of attention lately because of his ostentatious ways. “He is always boasting and showing off and bringing attention to himself. He has photos plastered all over Facebook in the company of several of his minister friends. There are also a lot of photos of one particular minister, whose ministry handles infrastructure projects, hugging up the businessman’s six-year-old daughter on some site visits. The photos show that the businessman and these ministers are close friends,” the source said.
Open ExtravaganceAs a result of the businessman’s bragging and open extravagance, the source said, the “pimp” who has been managing the Farah Street, San Fernando brothel began to distance himself from the businessman. The businessman reportedly bought him a Rolex watch to coax him back and he successfully did.
According to Sunshine sources, the reason the 41-year-old businessman is being noticed is because of his sudden and meteoric rise in the construction industry.
“This fella started off with a car rust-proofing business and doing car rentals. He branched out into renting lighting towers. All of a sudden, he became a contractor building houses. Last year he went to the UK and South Africa and he brought down a fleet of trucks which he keeps in Victoria Village, and his office and operations just expanded into a massive operation,” the source said.
Lavish Christmas PartyLast Christmas, the source said, the businessman held a lavish party at another of his houses, this time in Tortuga.
“The house is located on an estate in Tortuga, it is a big house. He had a family lime and during the party, he pulled out his licensed firearm and was firing gunshots into the air without any care that he could have hurt somebody or that police might get involved,” the source said. “At a previous party his car trunk was also full of cash and he was showing off.”
The source added that the businessman has been travelling to international vacation destinations with his family and has been posting lots of photos on social media. “His associates are worried that he is drawing attention to himself and to them, and that they might not have the kind of money he has to insulate themselves,” according to the source.
Moving Boldfaced In The Open“Even this thing with the Colombian women and the prostitution,” the source said, “he is moving boldfaced and in the open. He has been sponsoring a very popular Jamaican dancehall artiste with a lot of money.
“He has set up a massive hunting camp deep in the forest inside by Petrotrin. It has all the amenities and he has about 10 men living in the camp planting crops and taking care of the animals there. He does not eat wild meat but he brought down 18 hunting dogs from Texas – for hunting wild meat. He has that to entertain his PNM (People’s National Movement) honchos.”
Just as the businessman’s associates feared, his lavish and reckless lifestyle has not gone unnoticed.
A radio talk show host found out about the businessman’s activities and threatened to expose it all including naming ministers with whom he was associated. One minister aborted the broadcast amidst threats of potential legal action.
Arranged MeetingHowever, Sunshine understands that the Southern businessman, who returned to the country last week, contacted the media personality and arranged a meeting at which he paid a sum of US cash to the broadcaster who coincidentally reaped millions of dollars from the controversial and defunct LifeSport programme under the former People’s Partnership (PP) government.
The broadcaster, according to Sunshine’s sources, also asked the businessman for help in getting government contracts. The businessman told the talk show host to “organize yourself and buy a garbage truck.”
“The businessman promised to help him with getting contracts. He said if the radio guy gets three trucks he could get them placed for him in three different areas,” the source said.
