THE GRANDSON of Education Minister, Anthony Garcia was reprimanded and discharged when he appeared before an Arima Magistrate charged with the possession of .65 grammes of marijuana.
The court heard that on Wednesday, the accused, Damive Garcia, 19 was arrested near his Bon Air Gardens, Arouca home during a police exercise in the area.
Yesterday he appeared before Arima Magistrate Cheron Raphael who reprimanded and discharged his case citing three reasons: The small quantity he was arrested with, the fact that he is a first time offender and the third was that she did not want to jeopardise a scholarship that he recently received.

Those aren't push button start? How they accessed the encrypted fob signal? How they know it had GPS to waste time digging for it? Or was it a hold up?
Kidnapping rumour spreads after dispute near daycare
An argument between a Barrackpore mother and a relative, and her subsequent disappearance outside a pre-school caused panic when it was reported on social media that she was kidnapped.
However, police said people had exaggerated the situation and jumped to a conclusion before getting the facts.
The woman was located by police and was well.
According to police, the woman was outside a preschool off the Rochard Douglas Road when she had a dispute with a relative.
Police said someone at the school saw the woman being placed inside the car and contacted an Emergency Response police officer and asked him to pass by the school to see whether or not something was wrong. The information was passed on to Barrackpore police and the woman was identified.
Officers said when she was contacted, the woman reported that she was well and liming with someone.
However, claims of the woman being kidnapped were shared via social media yesterday, including a photograph of her and a child. It was also claimed that she played a prank on the police, however, police said no official report was made up to yesterday afternoon.
Woman in kidnapping rumour now says it was true
A Barrackpore mother who was reported kidnapped after dropping her children to pre-school on Monday has now claimed that she was indeed abducted.
This after she was found hobbling out of the Usine Pond in Ste Madeline yesterday.
The woman told investigators that when officers contacted her on Monday, she had to tell them she was alright because her captors had a gun to her head.
According to police, she claimed that that on Monday, she was near the Rochard Road in Barrackpore when an ex-boyfriend, his girlfriend and another man kidnapped her.
She said she was taken somewhere and sexually assaulted. Yesterday morning, they threw her in the pond and left her.
Passersby saw the drenched woman exiting the pond and contacted Ste Madeleine Police.
But ent police located her and she was well?
The woman was taken to a health centre for a medical checkup and was expected to give officers an official statement.
An initial report stated that around 9.30 am Monday, the woman had just dropped off her two children at a preschool.
She was standing near of shed when a Nissan Tiida pulled alongside her and two men emerged.
An argument reportedly ensued and the woman was assaulted before she was dragged into the car.
Witnesses contacted Barrackpore police and reported that they heard the woman screaming as the car drove away.
Police responded but found no sign of her or the car in the area.
Police contacted her via her mobile phone and she told them that she was with a friend.
The officers asked her to visit the station, but she never did.
Barrackpore mother kidnapped
MOMENTS after dropping off her two children at school, a Barrackpore woman was abducted by two men who were seen bundling her into a car near her home on Monday morning.
Up to late yesterday members of the Anti Kidnapping Squad were questioning several people despite rumours on social media that the report was fake.
According to a police report at about 9.30 am the woman identified as Roxanne Rajkumar was standing near a shed near her home in Barrackpore when a Nissan Tiida pulled up. An eye witness said two men came out of the car, grabbed Rajkumar and bundled her into the car and drove off.
The eyewitness said people were only alerted when Rajkumar began screaming for help but by the time people rushed to her aid, it was too late as the car drove off.
Rajkumar is a mother of two children ages five and nine. Rumours of the kidnapping being fake began circulating on social media after police had informed the family that they called Rajkumar's cellphone and a female voice answered saying she was okay and was not kidnapped.
However, police said the woman who responded may not have been Rajkumar.
Since then all calls to Rajkumar's phone have been forwarded to voicemail.
Yesterday, one of Rajkumar's friends in a social media post called on users to share the mother’s photograph with hopes of someone seeing her.
“I have known Roxanne for years, this is not something she will do. She loves her children till death and always puts them first. Everything she does is to protect and make a better future for them.”
The woman said that people were making it out to be a joke while the mother was abducted. But two days have gone and Rajkumar has not shown up to her home.
A report was also made to the Barrackpore Police Station.
