Issue: EXPORTING from US

Postby eurotuner » March 26th, 2018, 5:40 pm

Hi fellas,

I'm trying to buy some equipment from the US, but suppliers don't want to export out of the US region, because of seller a agreement(they want you to buy from local affiliates, but in trinidad its 100% markup) Has anyone here ever had this issue and how did you deal with it. Thanks.

Have someone in the US buy it for you and then they can arrange to send it to T&T.

Thought about that....but you gotta give them a shipping address, even if i let someone buy them for me, they would need to take it to my freight company and the items on pallets, so they cant just leave in someone garage, sadly.

Isn't the shipping company a US address?

You will have an issue for any warranty claim though.

Some US manufacturers or distributors will not sell to persons outside the US, because they have agents in the country that the buyer is from & it's in their contract to not sell directly to the consumer of that country. & they don't care if the price you pay to their dealer in your country is 50x what they retail the same item for.

op, your best bet to pay the least is take a trip & go buy it yourself & have it forwarded to your shipping address, preferably somewhere not in Florida, because a lot of them make it their business to know all the more popular/bigger shipping companies at the major shipping points.

A lot of the time dealers in the US get lower prices or bigger discounts than trini dealers. They might be able to offer at a lower price than the local dealer even gets. Also the local dealer has to factor in freight, obtaining foreign exchange to purchase, training for after sales support and stocking parts.

While this should not really add up to 100% markup the price they could offer here is going to be hard to compete with a us dealer who just looking for market share and wont have to worry about warranty etc.

Both of y'all are on the money! Found a way around it though... Having my freight company pic it up from the supplier, then ship them in. So as far as they know its going wherever.
