2:30PM Thursday 27th September 2018: Flash Flooding, Power Outages Across Southwestern Trinidad As a Result of Slow Moving Thunderstorms. Additional Showers, Thunderstorms Expected Throughout the Evening. Street/Flash Flooding, Gusty Winds (In Excess of 50 KM/H), Frequent Lightning In Thunderstorms, Landslides Possible.

Slow moving showers and thunderstorms are affecting parts of Southern Trinidad, with widespread flash flooding occurring across parts of San Fernando and surrounding areas. Additional showers are approaching parts of Southern Trinidad and Tobago.

Over the next 24 hours, through Thursday generally 10-15 mm of rainfall is forecast across Trinidad and Tobago with isolated amounts reaching 20-35 mm. However, locally heavy showers and thunderstorms may produce localized street/flash flooding and gusty winds.

These overcast and rainy conditions will result in cooler temperatures returning to the region with the forecast maximum being 29-31°C across both islands, through Thursday.

Seas will be moderate to rough with waves up between 2.0-2.5 meters in open waters , nearing 4.0 meters closer to TS Kirk and less than 1.0 meter in sheltered areas. Sea conditions may be briefly and locally rough in the vicinity of thunderstorms or heavy showers.

Street/flash flooding and gusty winds are possible in heavier or prolonged showers or thunderstorms. Gusty winds may down trees and/or utility poles. Frequent cloud-to-ground lightning is possible in thunderstorms. Landslides are possible in elevated areas.

There are no alerts, watches or warnings in effect for Trinidad and Tobago from the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service as of 2:30PM Thursday 27th September 2018.

MOWT: Accident in Caroni, expect heavy traffic delays

LOOP NEWS CREATED : 27 SEPTEMBER 2018 T&T NEWS

The Ministry of Works and Transport (MOWT) is advising motorists of heavy traffic on the Solomon Hochoy Highway in the vicinity of Caroni, Northbound, due to a vehicular accident.

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) is presently on site assisting.

The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM) issued a traffic advisory around 3:15 p.m., asking citizens to proceed with caution in the area and expect heavy traffic delays.

“Citizens are kindly advised of heavy traffic on the Solomon Hochoy Highway in the vicinity of Caroni, Northbound. Citizens are asked to proceed with caution in the area and expect heavy traffic delays as evening peak begins. Seek alternative routes or delay travel if possible. The Ministry of Works will continue to monitor and provide further updates.”

Kirk's weird, most of the precipitation is located toward the rear of the system. The frontal area almost bone dry...:|
