The ministry of planning was closed today, because of the rain yesterday.... planning... planning.
They mean that they in charge of planning and can't plan for rain in rainy season!

They have one job,,, one job!

ODPM gives status update on affected areas due to inclement weather conditions
ODPMTT·SUNDAY, JULY 1, 2018

As a result of continuous heavy rainfall, numerous areas across Trinidad experienced street and flash flooding. Reports to the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM) indicate that flood waters have subsided in most areas.

The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM), as the lead coordinator of Disaster Risk Management, remains in contact with the Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government and other first responder and support agencies to ensure immediate assistance can be rendered if called upon due to inclement weather conditions.

The Senior Disaster Management Coordinator (SDMC) has indicated that the Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government is in full control of the current situation. Thus, the ODPM will continue to monitor reports closely and stands ready to support incident response should it be required. The impacted Municipal Corporations have activated to coordinate response and relief efforts to affected communities, residents and businesses.

The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) forecast for the period tonight and tomorrow indicate that Trinidad and Tobago will be partly cloudy to cloudy with intermittent light to moderate showers. There is the medium chance of a few heavy and thundery showers, accompanied by gusty winds, street and flash flooding mainly affecting Trinidad and Tobago overnight into the early morning and during the day tomorrow (July 2nd).

Reports to the ODPM indicate that the following areas were impacted by the inclement weather:
Port-of-Spain City Corporation – There were numerous reports of streets and flash flooding in the capital city of Port of Spain, including Wrightson Road, Ariapita Avenue, Damian Street and Downtown Port of Spain. This resulted in numerous traffic delays in and out of Port of Spain. The City Corporation will continue clean-up efforts to ensure minimal disruption of traffic.

Diego Martin Regional Corporation - The Diego Martin River crested and was on the verge of overflowing its bank. However, reports indicate that the river has subsided. Residents should take precautionary measures to protect life and property. Motorists are advised to proceed with extreme caution in the vicinity of the Diego Martin River.

There were also reports of flash flooding in the Cocorite area. Reports indicate that flood waters has also subsided.
Couva/Tabaquite/Talparo Regional Corporation - There were reports of flash flooding on the Solomon Hochoy Highway. However, the Couva/Tabaquite/Talparo Regional Corporation has reported that traffic is flowing freely on Solomon Hochoy Highway and water has subsided in all areas.

There were reports of street flooding in the following areas:
· Calcutta#1
· Ragoonanan Road West, Chandernagore
· Cedar Hill Road
· Sum Sum Hill Trace
· Lower Soledad and Laloo Trace in the Clayton bay district.
· There was a report of house flooding in the Mc Bean, Couva.

Reports indicate that flood waters has subsided in most areas.

Maybe, the rain will be confined to the east.

I doh know why people does take orn de Met Orfice in T&T when dey say 'island wide rain by 8:00 a.m.'

I doh know what technology dey using but it needs to be upgraded.

Imagine a Trini yute living quite in Texas cud give a more accurate forecast than de Met Orfice.

Is when dey doh tell yuh dat rain coming dat yuh have to look out.

Mc Bean, Couva is this morning having some moderate showers and things are just wet and slushy.
Just another grey wet season morning.
