With turn out at 67% the number the PNM got(378k) was sufficient.

Clearly both parties need to attract more than just the sychophants to get past the post.

Swing Vote and non aligned voters are what the winner needs to attract.

What ever following this new party gets, it will be a vote splitting party and will reinforce the grip PNM has on this country.

Whil T&T needs another good option, history has proven that new political parties which try to gain momentum a short time before an election always splits the vote and gives a bigger majority to one singular party, in this case PNM.

57 years of our backward "culture" cannot be changed in one year or even one government term. This takes years, perhaps even a generation. These new parties need more than a year to show their strength and to prove that they can be an option.

Sorry to say this, but this new party going to be PNM's knight in shining armour and will split the votes to the current administration's benefit.

UNC needs an invasion and force internal elections. There is still time before the General Elections to get things in order. Panday Sr. could have well sown seeds of dissent and murmurs and get that done before December this year.

But Kamla is surrounded and protected by the yes men team who thrive off the corruption and thievery, so they like the position that the UNC in right now. They will make sure there is no change.

Patriotic Front Political Leader Mickela Panday has confirmed that her party will contest the 2025 General Election.

In a video statement posted on Facebook on Sunday, Panday said ahead of this year’s Budget Statement, the country was looking for hope and a new vision for the nation, “none of which materialised.”

She said that in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic and the losses it caused both within families and businesses, there were several outstanding issues that needed to be addressed.

Panday said, however, that the only thing citizens received from the major political parties after two weeks of parliamentary deliberations on the budget were "ill-timed anecdotes, failed attempts to be comical, and the usual mudslinging."

“It was almost as if the last two years of dire financial hardship for so many of our citizens never happened and it was back to business as usual," she said.

Panday lamented that year after year citizens continue to look out for change, but such change seems to be an elusive dream.

“We continue to look on year after year for creative solutions from any of our elected officials but that too seems to be an elusive dream.”

She said, as a result, the Patriotic Front would therefore make itself available as an agent of change.

“We are painfully aware that the citizens of T&T are crying out for painful change. It’s time to move our nation forward in a new direction. Come 2025 the Patriotic Front will be contesting the General Election. It is our vision to create a safe, knowledge-based society with a globally competitive, technologically driven and diverse economy."

yea if COP wasn't able to do it, nah, not even win one seat, it cyar work. The only viable outcomes under our electoral system is:

1) PNM
2) Coalition government
