Ideally new blood should be around however the people who should be there probably wouldn't want to be tainted by Politics and the ones who there already in it so not bothered.

New blood will come when/if this entity makes it an attractive proposition.
To soon for that yet.

Lee Sing spot on-make the rounds- have as many cottage meetings in as many different areas as possible.

Then make a decision.

There is a vacuum that a 3rd party can fill- and there is plenty that will happen to change dynamics between now and elections.

TT is too tribal in voting patterns .

What are the "plenty" that will change the dynamics ?

well the demographics/EBC numbers have the tribal votes not being sufficient to get either party past the post.

and there will be plenty revelations between now and the next elections-from both sides-about both sides.

A li'l bit of rain fall and the rats start to come out...

Jack Warner hints at political comeback
Clint Chan Tack

FORMER government minister Jack Warner is not ruling out a political comeback at age 75. He hinted at this possibility while commenting on Mickela Panday’s new party. Panday received consensus to form the party at a meeting on Sunday at Gaston Court, Chaguanas. On her Facebook page, Panday thanked people for attending the meeting. She said, “Look out for us in your area soon.”

Citing several older politicians, like Italy’s Silvio Berlusconi, who are returning to the fold, Warner said there was no reason why he could not do the same. “Who knows what the future holds?”

Warner did not know whether Panday’s move to launch a new party was “the correct idea.” He said, “The more splintered we are, the better for the PNM (People’s National Movement).”

However Warner conceded the now defunct People’s Partnership coalition was a failure and people do not want to be reminded of that. The former United National Congress (UNC) chairman also said the UNC is not as formidable as it once was. Warner said the UNC is carrying “a lot of dead weight” in the House of Representatives and the Senate.

With TT “tottering on the precipice”, Warner said there must be a “meeting of the minds” amongst the smaller parties. He suggested a mechanism for all these parties to retain their individuality but unite under one banner against the PNM.

Warner identified pride as the major obstacle to this happening. “Pride is what is killing us.” UNC MP Dr Fuad Khan agreed with Warner. Khan said parties which normally oppose the PNM, “are working really hard to keep the PNM in office.”

Khan claimed there are some people who pretend to assist opposition parties but actually make sure, “they keep the opposition divided.”

Tribal voting is best exemplified by the fact that that even when given a 3rd option there are seats in Trinidad where the PNM's vote bank remains more or less unwavering.

Devant: Her party is ‘a demon child’

FORMER United National Congress (UNC) minister Devant Maharaj has dismissed the planned political party by Mickela Panday as “a rich girl’s plaything” and a “demon child” that will only serve to split votes in favour of the People’s National Movement (PNM) in the general election.

He was commenting on a meeting held by Panday on Saturday in Chaguanas where she was given a mandate by the crowd to form a new party. Maharaj, who had raised concerns about a possible Mickela Panday-led party in a media release two weeks ago, commented on the issue during a telephone interview yesterday. He described the proposed party as former prime minister Basdeo Panday’s “obscene and vulgar desire” to have a political dynasty.

“This is a rich girl’s plaything for now. This is a father’s dream, and a population’s nightmare.”

Maharaj recalled the rise and fall of Team Unity under former attorney general Ramesh Lawrence Maharaj, Movement for Unity and Progress under former UNC MP Hulsie Bhaggan, the Independent Liberal Party under the charismatic and extremely wealthy Jack Warner and also personally having been a party of the Congress of the People under “Mr integrity” Winston Dookeran.

“I think Mickela Panday would serve only as the beneficiary of the PNM to split the votes.

^^^ Devant Maharaj clearly not too smart. Makes me wonder what qualities Jack Warner was commenting on when he described him as a model Chariman at PTSC.

In an honest and non bias opinion since PNM won this country gone downhill and the standard of living here is just so low. We need help! We need love and we need peace.

The conversation taking place here is proof that things will never change. Alyuh prefer to wait for the man beating alyuh to change than be brave enough to stand up and say no more! If the 3rd parties aren't given a real opportunity we will remain in the same cycle.
No party can be launched today and win tomorrow in t & t, it is a process and the best they can do is become a new opposition, prove themselves there and hopefully make it into office next go around.

Hence the reason why everyone saying pnm until 2025...if bas et al still around for election in 2025 they may have a chance...but it depends on the composition of the party and what it has to offer...we have almost two years to go before the next election...you really think they can make such an impact to at least boots out the unc and become the opposition...not even be a govt....reality is....it have die hard kamla fans out there and we are going to see a repeat of 2007

That’s because he ran out of people to jump in bed with. Never know what he’d do given a new sleeping partner.

Never in politics is about 2 years.

Philip is a known party jumper, the hype surrounding his orange revolution has died down and the reality is that he is not left with enough supporters to secure his deposit in an election.

All third parties are burdened by past failed leaders like Bas. With Mickela taking advice from Bas, you really feel any party formed by her will not vicariously be Bas'?
