Boy, its a democracy. I say now that it have about 6 or 7 third parties now, PNM supporters have no excuse to support PNM anymore. Before they said, nah boy, UNC is crap and COP is UNC.

But now they have choice for so. If they vote PNM again, is because they thought it was a intelligence multiple choice exam and teacher say PNM is the right choice.

I would say Bas is not very optimistic about winning the next election!
Either way... why should splitting UNC votes be a concern for the Pandays? If they like politics and Kams don't want to let them in the party that Bas built and their principles are opposed to the principles of the PNM (or so they would like us to believe)..... they free to start their own party IMHO.

I saw that over the weekend..... it got almost as much airtime as the Royal Wedding on BBC news mainly because the out-going Premier was banned from leaving the country.... apparently he was scheduled to leave for Indonesia. They did make mention that his previous government was corrupt and their were concerns of other old politicians resurfacing..... I had to make sure it was not Trinidad and Tobago they were talking about.... lol

...Political analyst Bishnu Ragoonath told the Sunday Guardian he believed the meeting was an attempt by Mickela to feel out and get a sense of what kind of support was out there for her if she was considering launching the political party on her own.

He did, however, issue a warning to the young Panday, saying she had to be careful that she was not led astray, as not everybody present at today’s meeting would legitimately there to support her...

decent attendance (over 200 I'd say) for a first meeting, Mikela was engaging and clearly a Panday when it comes to public speaking. She received a standing ovation at the end and the purpose was definitely to feel out the potential for a new political entity

There's a strong chance that there will be a brand new party vying for office when the 2020 general elections rolls around.

As Mickela Panday hosted her meet and greet with citizens in Chaguanas, titled "It's Time", the attorney at law seemed to have a goal of becoming this country's second female Prime Minister.



Among those who turned out to support Mickela Panday at Sunday's political event was son of Imam Yasin Abu Bakr and leader of the New National Vision Fuad Abu Bakr.

Abu Bakr, who contested seats 2 times in past elections, had some advice for Mickela Panday.

She talks a good talk surely coached by one of the best and inspires more confidence than Tantie Kams that's for sure. As for Rowley...well a load of sh!t could inspire more confidence than he so that eh saying much.

The problem is the supporting cast...especially NNV. Ah mean she's caught between a rock and a hard place eh...you cannot want to talk about "all are invited" and then want to exclude certain groups. But Abu Bakr will be paying for the sins of his father for a long time to come and his presence will taint any organization he's associated with...

IMHO this is the most significant point that sadly alot of people are not getting. Practically, if you were to traverse unfamiliar territory, you will appreciate the assistance of someone who is familiar with that territory. In this case, I believe there is no one alive that can be more familiar than Bas and SHE has the added benefit that he is her father.... it is someone she can trust to have her best interest as paramount importance.
One of Panday's most famous quotes is "politics has a morality of it's own", it has been repeated so many times and I wonder if some of us ever take the time to really understand what it means.
Morality is essentially the principles we apply to distinguish between right and wrong..... the same can be said about law as was recently highlighted by Mr. Young's comment about the lawyers of the criminal bar.
What Panday did here was give us a little peek in the bag yet alot of us did not see the nature of the "cat in the bag".
Rowley also gave us a peek when he said that if you say the same lie enough times, eventually people begin to believe it, this goes hand in hand with the Abraham Lincoln's:

You can fool all the people some of the time,
and some of the people all the time,
but you cannot fool all the people all the time

Politicians are not too bothered about fooling all of the people, they just need to fool enough to win the election and of course, keeping people uneducated and dependent on handouts just makes their job so much easier!
