New Commissioner of Police (CoP) appointed, Gary Griffith

Postby RedVEVO » June 7th, 2018, 6:15 am

" ..THE House of Representatives last night defeated a motion to confirm the appointment of Acting Deputy Police Commissioner (DCP) Deodat Dulalchan as Commissioner of Police (CoP) .. "

" .. Before this debate ended, Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley made it clear that a CoP was not being selected on the grounds of race or religion as some people alleged. He said Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar was wrong to claim the Government was incompetent on this matter .. "

" .. Rowley said Government could not support a questionable selection process .. "

Between the land/COSL and the roti issue Dulalachan have some answering to do. And that's just what we know about.
But I suspect the pool of potential candidates pretty shallow though.

I agree. He was not the ideal candidate. Too many skeletons in his closet. But having said that, this country needs to find an effective COP. The current acting clown is just as ineffective as having no one. You would think appointing a COP would be number 1 on Rowleys list of priorities.

The problem is the process. The selection of CoP does not need political interference as having the parliament vote. That is why there is no commissioner.

Trinidad insisted on keeping Service Commissions to the point they are constitutionally enshrined- PSC, Police, Teaching etc. Meanwhile the British got rid of them as being inefficient. That's why it is so difficult to manage Human Resources in the Public Sector.

KPB had the necessary majority to rid us of this ancient relic.

typical stupid fking politicians, don't want ah man in a position of power because of his ethnicity.
The best we had was the Canadian - but due to the stupid small minded false pride attitudes of our locals it could not work, same sh1t as why Uber pulled out of trini, the average trini is a dotish jacka55 with ignorance levels so high in false pride this country will never get any developed status.

There was also the disbanding of the duitf when a certain close relative was charged.

The man did not apply for the position yet he allegedly was screened for it. Members of the commission and him had prior relationships so the process was not impartial. Those dinosaurs have kept the service backward for years, fighting down the good plans Gibbs had.

I agree with the Gibbs sentiments. We shouldn't have gotten rid of him. But nah, he was cleaning up, men scared.

A receipt when you make a report in a station??? Nah!

THIS.

Also, Dulalchan NEVER applied to be Commissioner of Police. He only applied to be DEPUTY and for some reason, the PSC ups and decide to choose him for a job he never applied for.

From all indications, especially KPMG an internationally recognized firm who did all the work in the beginning, Gary Griffith was chosen as the #1 candidate for a job he did apply for, Commissioner of Police. When the report reach the PSC, they decide to fudge with his scores, place him lower, then bring a man from a deputy of commissioner list and place him higher.

The man who really got robbed here is Gary Griffith. Dulalchan had too much bs over his head and I don't feel sorry for him. Of course as is Trinidad politics, it is easy to bawl race as Dulalchan is indo and PNM is afro.

Gibbs introduced the report receipt system which has greatly removed the nonsense of cops taking a report on any scrap of paper and discarding or tampering with station reports.

I once gave a report in the early implementation and could see the apprehension of all the cops to make up the receipt and asking who should sign it.

The police union gave him plenty pressure, I wonder how they would treat with Griffith.

Gary Griffith on the the Top Cop position. Mr Griffith said the UNC did not support him because he will go after anyone no matter their position.

So in the KPMG report (unverified), the top three for Commissioner of Police was:

1. Gary Griffith (PSC moved him lower down the list)

2. Stephen Williams (Disappeared from the PSC list, replaced by #6 from Deputy list)

3. Michael Seales (Disappeared from the PSC list, replaced by #11)

Then we have someone who applied for DEPUTY Commissioner of Police merit list became NUMBER ONE on the Commissioner of Police merit list.

The PSC mess this up, nothing to do with race.

T&T is not a serious country

So what? It was a tender process and they won. Also, they did their job. Once the PSC began to interfere after KPMG did their part, is when things went downhill.

Also, the whole process wasn't scrapped so the 3.2m didn't go to waste. It went back to the PSC for the list to be done over. Fortunately we have a new PSC chairman who can make things right. We also have a new President to keep an eye on the PSC.

Up to now nobody could answer how a man who didn't apply for the wuk get thru.
