Tabaquite MP Dr Surujrattan Rrambachan says his attorneys are at this time trying to find the source of a post being shared about his family.

According to the MP, the post is highly inflammatory and contains" malicious rumours."

The post which is being shared on WhatsApp alleges that Dr Rambachan’s relative, whose name was called, was involved in a heinous act perpetrated on a four-year-old girl.

It gives details about the child’s condition and the trauma experienced.

But Dr Rambachan says the post does not relate to him or his family.

He says he will not hesitate to take all legal steps necessary to protect the reputation of his family.

The MP says this is so for both the original post and the comments made to the post.

The precedent has already been set with regard to such internet cases. Good to know that the disgusting people who create fake news will be tracked down and prosecuted. And the others will think twice before sharing malicious rumours. Though, only people with very poor education and psychopath levels of empathy would be sharing that kind of stuff without thinking how it could hurt innocent people.

Good thing Trinidadians too lazy, or else things like this could end up like the Whatsapp murders in India.

I don't think they can charge people for sharing/commenting. If that is the case they would have to lock up the whole village for gossiping.

If anything the person who started it is culpable, at least that has been the finding in cases to date.
