WTK: Removing double sided tape

Postby Rory Phoulorie » July 25th, 2018, 1:48 pm

I need to remove and re-install some side body moulding on my car. It is attached to the door panels using automotive grade double sided tape. Removing the body moulding is not the issue, removing the remnants of the double sided tape from the moulding and the door panel without damaging same is the issue.

I am therefore humbly requesting the global knowledge of the 2NR population for some advice on this issue. I had to do this before and had tried a 3M adhesive remover liquid with good results on the door panel, but very little success on the moulding. I also tried using WD-40, but that didn't do anything really.

Any advice on this issue will be sincerely appreciated.

Thanks.

Just came from a body shop-and we asked the same Q- he use some gas or compound to take off the remnants of the DS tape.

Since area will be covered by moulding
You can also try scraping/cutting with a plastic fast food knife at a shallow angle

gasoline and wd40 shud work with elbow grease though

use a heat gun too if it's really stubborn.
