RETIRED Oilfield Workers Trade Union (OWTU) president general Errol Mc Leod is to receive a retirement package worth $4.5 million for his 21 years of service to one of the country’s richest trade unions.

An OWTU source told Newsday yesterday that the contents of the separation package include a house to be built at a cost of $2 million on a piece of land owned by Mc Leod in Aripero, a new X5 BMW SUV worth $750,000, guaranteed car insurance for the next five years plus a $1.5 million annuity.

The article was from 2008. Remember he also went on to serve in the PP Government for 5 years so he would be collecting some monies for that tenure as well.

All dem fellas who does prognosticate about the country bread buttered on both sides yes. They either have absolutely no idea or choose to ignore what the common man is facing by way of economic hardship.

My money is on the latter...:|

So I was told that locally produced oil is not being purchased by anyone..and the oil is stacking up at the operators storage.

While the person I spoke with is credible and knowledgeable...I find this unbelievable.

Can anyone here confirm?

Petrotrin's first export of crude that would have been processed in the refinery was 500,000 bl of 20°-21° API Molo grade that was purchased by Swiss-based trading house Trafigura.

The crude was loaded on the tanker Hellespont Progress on 30 October, Petrotrin said.

The company plans to export 40,000 b/d of crude, representing 60pc of national production. The balance is produced by private-sector companies led by led by Perenco, BHP and BP.
