find another avenue for your soapbox... it was on social media... and same as the previous incident in terms of uproar
on another note... shame many still saying cyclists need to be off the roads....
Off the highway yes. Off the rest of the roads? No.
So people who wish to cycle from west to East are left with what alternate routes then, or North ot South?? if they cannot go on the highways?
So many places in the world are encouragning the use of Bicycles to promote health and to help with pollution and green house gases and what does Trinidad do?
Is the highway the only way to access north south and east west?
Why you talking like if someone said don’t cycle on any roads at all?
To ride from Chaguanas to POS is 20km using the highways, and 30km using the Old Southern Main Road/Eastern Main Road as a route. In spite of the longer distance, it would still be marginally quicker to ride on the EMR/SMR to get to town on a typical school morning (compared to driving the 20km route on the highway).
For someone who wants to ride solely just for transport, the most direct route is the highway. It would take less than an hr to ride at an easy pace. Unfortunately this is extremely dangerous as there is currently no infrastructure for this.
If infrastructure put in place for bicycle riders on the highway then that would be great. Until then it just seems like they wanna be right and dead.
You are not wrong but I think the main difference what you are focused on. They want to use these incidents as a catalyst to get things put in place to change the way things are.ek4ever wrote:Allergic2BunnyEars wrote:foots wrote:Allergic2BunnyEars wrote:Ben_spanna wrote:Allergic2BunnyEars wrote:tr1ad wrote:kstt wrote:Black man get killed no uproar, no March, no vigil, not plastered over social media, no minister comment, no nothing!

Finally, someone making sense. Ppl want to compare Trinidad to other places talking about how they encourage bicycles, ppl riding to work and all that. This is Trinidad.....things not in place for ppl to ride to where they going....we not even close to that. Decades of poor transport services and infrastructure, poor planning and a do-whatever-we-want attitude means that car transport is all we have hence our over-crowded roads and increasing car population.
Cyclists have to stop being naive.....really and truly the gov't should ban cyclists on any road with a speed limit of 100kph. But of course these dumbasses will want to accommodate cyclists by telling drivers to slow down around them, so what the fcuk yuh have a speed limit of 100kph for? Cyclists and cars/trucks cannot occupy the same roads when these roads are classed as highways and are major routes. I mean yuh ever see someone riding down the I-95? Steups.....always eager to demonstrate our 3rd world thinking
