I think you should ask the lecturer /TA for this assistance because

1. you're paying them for the education,
2. you would learn a lot more writing and research techniques from qualified people rather than offhand "advice" on a car forum,
3. they are marking your paper so get to know them and what they specifically require. Why write a paper that may be complete garbage to what they want?

Really a thesis is not an essay you can write the night before, it's a lot of work.

For your literature review, I'd suggest finding some online journals/books/conference publications as far back as possible, mixed with the most recent research in the field. Look at similar theses for ideas.

Your aim is to use the existing literature to assess what is being done and to highlight gaps that you can potentially fill. Engage your supervisor early.

I'm currently chest deep in phd research, so I can share my experiences - as limited as it may be.

Remember after going through all that effort spent about 2 years doing research... External marker had my work for 2 years... Had to write a complaint then they did something about it... Delayed my graduation by a year....

It is hard doing MSc part time. And lecturers are very difficult. Man made me do a tobit regression... When I told him logit was more appropriate... After I submitted had to do a logit since tobit was inconclusive.... How was that my fault...

I understand totally. I am currently going through the exact same thing. It's easy for others who haven't and are not going through this to comment about what you should do. Even if someone did go through this, everyone's capabilities and experiences are different.
