Postby nemisis » November 27th, 2019, 9:59 am

Looking to get an exercise bike. Any help would be appreciated, what to look for, most have features, locations with best prices or service...

Sports and Games have cheap-ish ones. I ran it until it died. Lasted over 7 years with heavy use (5 times per week average, 30-60 min each time)

They had an in-house brand.

Things to look out for:

Look for seat adjustment (horizontal and vertical)
Heavy flywheel (40-50lb)
Preferably mag adjuster (friction / pad adjusters wear down hella quick, might be problematic to replace)
Don't worry about fancy HR monitors, those builtin ones are usually crap/inaccurate. Get a dedicated device like a Garmin or something.
Steel frame with leg adjusters for uneven surfaces - if you have bumpy suface consider a thick mat or ply or something.

Nothing wrong with the seat ..

Your ass soft .. like baby bottom

Amazon have bike seats for the "bottom challenged".

Check Pricesmart...saw one in POS branch.

Main thing to look for is how heavy the Flywheel is and have a hatchback/wagon or vehicle with fold down back seats. Walk with help to load and unload. The seat look for one that has hole in middle to protect you under carriage or you can change out seat at a later time.

Also you can attach a bicycle monitor if the spin bike doesn't have one (sometimes it cheaper to buy one without monitor )
I have a spin bike and the built in speed monitor stopped working. Got a cheap wired bicycle monitor online and attached it to handlebars.

I would prefer if it wasn't pricemart will check them last. They are not known for any quality/support.

do you have an existing bike ?
if so you might be able to get an indoor trainer to mount it to for possibly cheaper

most home exercise bikes end up being clothes hangers

As we in the topic of equipment.
Where can i score a good rowing machine?

Want some variety to outdoor running and cross country cycling. Weather, daylight and other variables usually wreck my midweek plans and I need to keep my activity level up during mon-fri

Good rowing machines are not cheap and they take up space,
You might be better off joining a gym as most have.
The standard rowing machine is the concept 2

Many local gyms have it

^^

OP go to a gym .
It's about $300 per month .

Try out the ex bikes ..
Try to burn 300 calories in 30 minutes .
It's very boring .. but good test of your endurance .

Then decide if you want to buy an exercise bike .

Chances are if you buy one, within 2 months, it will be in the corner collecting spiders.

Or your wife will use it , get super heathy and thin and tell you HYMC.
