Paria Fuel stops supplying fuel to UNIPET

From today, Paria Fuel Trading Company will stop providing UNIPET with fuel.

Despite this, the state company is assuring the public that this decision will not affect the fuel available to motorists.

It says it will give NP the difference in quantity of fuel required to meet the country’s needs.



Paria says its decision to cut UNIPET’s fuel supply is a consequence of the parties failing to renegotiate a Supply Agreement since April 2019 as well as UNIPET defaulting on payments owed for September and October 2019 deliveries.

Paria states it has had challenges receiving payment from UNIPET in accordance with the agreed payment schedule, which can affect its ability to procure fuel from its suppliers.

Despite the latest move, Paria states that it is willing to continue discussions with UNIPET to achieve a solution that is both safe and in the best interest of both companies and which minimizes any disruption of supply to the local market.

Paria sells Unipet gas at international rates and Unipet has to apply back to the government for the subsidy ....Government owes Unipet millions they not saying that .

NP doesn’t pay Paria until the next shipment reaches giving them credit but wants cash from Unipet... that’s what Paria uses to pay their bills.... is Unipet money.

This certainly will result in negative consequences for the motoring public.
CNG distribution network may very well be severely constrained.
The management of fuel distribution and marketing in T&T seems to be utter confusion.
Panic buying and hoarding don't even may sense in this scenario.
Wait time and line at NP stations may lead to more indiscipline and inconvenience.

Typically the rule of thumb is 3-5 days of storage-

The possibility exists, we'd have to set up a commission of inquiry to determine if it was in fact Kamz's fault. Give it a couple years.

Next Siparia them close for some months for maintenance (multiple times of wrong tanked fuel to pumps) so ppl engine mashup

Going down the road penal well them still catering for the bull carts.. If ask for premium "what is that?"

They keep the stations like ratholes where it stink or has one set of characters liming nearby.

Gotta hand it to fyzo unipet, place always clean, the layout has it a bit more spacious than most NP stations and its a recently overhauled station with fresh UST so no worries about water in the fuel. Rate of sales seems to be high so fuel don't stay long and get stale. Never had issues with the premium there.

NP Fyzabad, seems nobody in control of anything and there is no order. People does park all how.

I usually full at Cross-crossing and Marabella now though. The sheer thought of having to fill at NP stations gets me kinda nauseous.

I have filled at NP Debe as its a being a 24 hour station but during the daylight is hell to get there with traffic and then space tight because people dont seem to know how to ark or form an orderly line.

This is a case for the liberalization of transportation fuels ....this model can’t work.

So will the independent np stations owners be willing to revolt?

No.
It would break the supply agreements.
No such thing as an independent NP station.

Understand this, the problem is at the point of Petrotrin/Paria/ patriotic selling the fuel to NP/Unipet

As it stands today that transaction happens where the govt pays the seller a large part of the price...as part of the subsidy mechanism.

Gortt never pays on time....so there is always a balance that NP/Unipet cannot pay because the cost is more than NP/Unipet sell it for.

Therefore as long as fuel is subsidised...govt will have a huge bill to pay to the Seller.
And keep in mind that the turn over is massive.

This cannot work today.
