Bars, Clubs & Sit-Down Restaurants banned until May 10th 2020

Postby paid_influencer » March 19th, 2020, 8:06 pm

I think deserves its own thread. For me as a patron, it is particularly terrifying. Also thousands of people are going to loss they livelihoods or have their businesses go under.

OP. Critical times call for critical measures. What's more terrifying? Not being able to go to a restaurant and dine in? Or a China or Italy scaled emergency in Trinidad?

Everyone is being affected some how. But once we do the right thing and comply with the heeds of those in authority and with the expertise, we'll pull through and rebound. That's the beauty of human nature... We evolve and learn!

have people who renting bar for 15k-30k a month

have plenty staff to pay,
have people selling food in their bars

real pressure....4 months?

i does only lime occasionally by one bar in kelly village so it not affecting me as a limer but as fellow business owners, not everyone gonna survive this.

If people renting bars, won't they fall under this rental moratorium that the PM indicated should be in place for tenants and landlords? So they really shouldn't have to pay rent in these times? Idk eh, I just asking.

People will be affected, jobs will be lost, businesses will be shut down no doubt. But we'll have to see how we come out of this.

I'm no big drinker so bars closing down doesn't affect me personally. I'm not trivialising the situation but maybe this could be a good opportunity for trinis to change their liming and lax attitude and take things a bit more seriously.

Did you notice that 1% business is mainly unaffected in all this?

Their banks are still open; their new car places are still open; their restaurants are still open; their stores are still open.

Meanwhile small businesses (bars and non 1% restaurants, private schools) getting shafted all over.

It was very nice to see they did four months. It appeared to be foresight and taking hard measures for the betterment of the people.

Then, they suddenly changed to April....Why? What could have changed in a few hours?

Another question, where government finding money to do all these things? I dont think they can remove that much from the HSF.

Apparently only by doubles men and queues / congregations by rivers & beaches. Pass through Independence Square anytime and you'll see banks and KFC having people line up outside instead of inside. While the fresh Saharan dust air outside might be better for the situation as opposed to circulated air conditioning inside, it's still congregating nevertheless and I haven't seen anyone do anything about it. Mind you every 5 minutes or so a police passing on either a bike, vehicle or on foot. As mentioned before, the 1% seems unaffected. Only the "less fortunate" are mandated to follow protocols.

Covid got the memo from Terry D........no infecting people in queues, just in random crowds consisting of the same number of people as a queue

Do not forget that while the small man suffering and small businesses suffering: Rowley, Kamla, Imbert, Moonilal et al salaries will be in their accounts at the end of March 2020.

Meanwhile plenty other people will be getting squat.

Remember that when some of you want to play politics and race with this issue.
