My aunt is 89 and, today, she told me a police related story that up to now, I still find difficult to believe.
Note that ALL her faculties, especially her mouth and her memory are fully intact.
She said that 2 Thursdays ago, between 10:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., she was home watching TV, when she heard a loud banging on her door.
Aunt: "Who is that?"
Police: "Police, Open up".
She peeped out and saw 4 police officers (3 male and 1 female) in her yard, and about 8 others in the road, armed-to-the-teeth.
According to her: "With some big, big guns".
Aunt: "How did you get in my yard?"
Police: "We jumped your gate because it was locked."
Aunt: "What do you want?"
Police: " We are looking for your brother (age 75). We have a warrant for his arrest" (Of course, no warrant was ever shown to my aunt)
Aunt: "Why?"
Police: "He has an outstanding traffic ticket for $1,000.00"
Aunt: "He is not here (the truth) but when next I see or speak to him I will let him know."
Police: "Do you have the $1,000.00 to pay now?"
Aunt: "You all think I am stupid or what?" Since when do the police jump people's gate so late in the night to ask for money. I could sue all of you via the Attorney General."
Police: "Laughs. Tell your brother we came for him."
Aunt proceeds to unlock the gate for the police to leave.
She told me that if she had remembered she would have told them to leave the same way they came.
Now, it seems that my Uncle (who has not been in the country since last year December) did get a ticket in Marabella and went to court. My aunt says that he told her the Magistrate told him, that he was free to go. But she also says that his recollection of things are suspect. She is not sure what the real story is with the traffic ticket.
My questions are:
Would the Marabella police leave South to go to the east to serve a warrant or would they pass it on to the nearest police station closest to where the person lives?
Is this how police go about scaring the elderly in the night? If she was a heart sufferer, she would be dead by now.
Was this an attempted shakedown by the police to get money (the $1,000.00)?

Tuner is well and truly alive.
Anyways, he lived with her when he came back to T&T a few years ago. That is why the police came to her home.
But he has since left the country.
Also, I did state that my Aunt said that her brother's memory is suspect. She is not sure what happened when he went to court. She could only repeat what he told her.
