I noted from your previous posts that you previously had the Pirellis but switched to the BFG and that you were originally high in praise of the Pirellis but found the BFGs appreciably better.
As mentioned before I was not too impressed with the straight line wet tarmac braking of the BFG some five years ago but I suppose it is not unreasonable to suppose BFG would have responded to feedback from that time and improved in this area. I note that they have added the letters KO to their description, not sure what that indicates.
The Pirelli and BFG seem to have some of the most conflicting reviews.
I personally think it may to some extent have to do with where they were manufactured and the associated quality control. For instance I read somewhere that the Firestones manufactured in Venezuela were not consistently of the same quality as those manufactured in eg USA.
The All-Terrain T/A KO ("KO" for Key benefit On- and Off-road) is BFGoodrich's On-/Off-Road All-Terrain light truck tire developed to meet the needs of pickup truck and sport utility vehicle drivers who want confidence and control on and off the road. The All-Terrain T/A KO was designed to deliver go-anywhere traction along with outstanding durability and great wear.
The All-Terrain T/A KO features an aggressive, computer-optimized, high-void, all-terrain pattern with interlocking tread blocks and innovative siping to provide traction and handling without generating excessive noise. "ShoulderLock" upper sidewall traction bars maximize aired-down performance by provide the clawing action necessary to develop traction and steering control in deep dirt and sand. The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts on top of BFGoodrich's TriGard (3-ply polyester cord sidewall plies) construction for strength and durability. Single strand beads (a single strand of bead wire is continuously wrapped multiple times until the desired strength is provided) enhance the tire's fit to the wheel to improve uniformity and ride quality, while rim protectors molded into the lower sidewall help shelter wheels from off-road hazards, especially during aired-down operation.

The Road Venture SAT KL61 is a versatile product that makes it a perfect choice for that first-time replacement when the original equipment products are worn. The timid all-terrain tread design features a solid center rib that promotes excellent on-road manners and ride comfort. The all-season symmetric tread design delivers year-round driving pleasure in wet, dry, wintery conditions and light snow. The SAT does have the Severe Snow Service mark molded into the sidewall. The Severe Snow Service marking certifies that the snow traction level is equivalent to a dedicated snow traction tire.

Went along with your advice and got the BFGs today. Had to go to Marabella to get them as both POS and Pt Lisas were out of stock.
In addition to your strong recommendation I saw a report to the effect that the BFG TA KO was an improvement on earlier BFG AT versions.
Thanks for the advice.

Haven't ventured off road but in my quest to purchase tyres the AT3 were looking a lot more durable than my stock set, but the online rating were poor. The Maxxis got a 4.5 while the AT3 got a 2.5. The maxxis cost me $4800 for the set.....
