Excellent thread. I've read through and learned a lot.

Need a little assistance folks.

Does anyone know how to replace the high mount stop light bulbs on the 2013 Navara 4x4 LE? I don't see anywhere on the inside headliner to access any nuts to release the high mount stop light assembly. I'm wondering if the lights even ever worked. I'm the second owner of the pickup.

Thanks.

Yo man, i've got a 2009 model and i changed the bulbs a while back. there should be two tabs on the inside top upholstery that have the nuts for the top brake light. easy to remove.

If you don't have the tabs as mentioned you have to drop the entire headliner to get to the nuts.

Good evening guys. The yd25 in my d22 is back pressuring bad. The mechanic said approximately 16k to rebuild it. I'm kinda leaning towards a td27 or a qd32. Will a td 27 be able to pull that van good? Do you guys think parts like the ac compressor, head, injector pump etc will sell for the yd25?

Td27 is what pulling most of those e24's.. It's a string engine.

Problem, it's an old engine to source one in good condition now is the question.

Bamboo marketing have them the cheapest. 27 n/a starts at 6k and turbo at 9 for the engine only. Qd32 n/a starts at 7.5 and the eti at 10. The gearboxes kinda expensive tho, 6 to 7 k for the floor shift for both 27 and 32. Transmissions starting at 2k for both engines. My mechanic told me that if i would like to use the 27, i should use my yd25 gearbox as the ratios better. I would just need to cut and weld the bellhousing by kalli's machine shop.

in the odd chance, if the bell housing can be switched between those boxes...
in the past, we put a td bell housing on an rb floor shift gearbox... for it to be used in a car.

the guy who modified another bell housing for a different project, it wasnt done exactly, so once per year we had to change clutch and pressure plate...

those prices not bad for td...

I know for sure that zd30 could work properly with the same bell housing as the qd. You could check george at 678 5511 as last week i was by him and saw a d40 yd head and block so he probably scrapping. I was looking for a local used turbo not too long and this guy had a navara scrapping 710 5529 also.

Just heard a squeal the evening before.
Thought the belt had to change.
Send my wife with the van to go Massy to buy it the next day .
Just before reaching Massy ac cut off. When she checked belt burst and pulley dropped out...
Pressure..
Seems that pulley and belts may have to change at 100k

Yup. I ended up dropping the headliner to get to the bulb. I plan on making two holes on the headliner where the nuts to the light assembly should line up and install two tabs. I'll probably have to check out someone else's pickup who already has the tabs in order to avoid making unnecessary holes on the headliner.

Dropping the headliner just to change thy bulb is quite cumbersome.

I assume you crossed 100k already. Anyone else had issues with the alternator pulley? I'm at 103k and I'm not hearing anything that would indicate belt or alternator pulley failure. But you did say you only heard a squeal the day before. Will take a look at mine and see what condition it is in.
What exactly broke? The pulley or the shaft that the pulley bolts on to?

Mine actually failed at 200k!!! Heard grinding type noise in traffic and battery light came on.

My friend's failed around 130 and took the belt with it.

It's a clutch bearing. If ure over 100k i think you should do it preventative one time since you will be doing timing chain etc soon.

Brake and Clutch Fluid: Grade DOT 3 or 4. Change interval 1 year or 20000 kms

How much is recommended to buy to do a flush?

Power Steering fluid: Grade Genuine Nissan PSF or Dexron 3 ATF. Change interval 30000 kms

Anyone ever replaced the power steering fluid on the D40? how much is needed to do a flush?

Thanks.

1 liter would work for the brake flush.

1 quart is enough for the power steering flush. If the ps fluid is really dirty then it might take a little more.

Hey Guys, am looking for some information. I heard that the manual Nav clutch disc is the exact same item as the one in the RB 26 gearbox with just a different part number. Does anyone have any information on this or can put me on to someone who can help me out ? Thanks.

Massey has indicated that they use Castrol Syntrax limited slip 75w-90 in the Navara D40 gearbox. This is a GL-5/MT-1 oil.

The manual says to use API GL-4.
Manual Transmission: Grade API-GL4. Viscosity 75W-85 or 75W-90. Change interval 30000 kms. Volume required 2WD: 3.99 L; 4WD: 4.32 L

Does anyone know if the Castrol Syntrax is safe for the D40 manual gearbox? I keep reading online where the GL-5 has sulphour/sulfides which wear the copper alloy synchro rings etc.
Thanks.

I used the castrol and no problems at all. I'm about to change again at 250k and I'll use it again
