Navara d40 vibration while idling

Postby errandboi » December 31st, 2017, 3:14 pm

The van (120000 km) recently started to vibrate from where I think is under the hood and slowly travels into the cab. Seems this only happens when in drive and it's idling, such as at a traffic light. I put it in neutral and it goes away . As soon as I touch the gas pedal it also stops . When idling at certain angles, say on an incline it decreases or increases depending on the gradient. Anyone had/has a similar problem? ??

Navara d40 vibration while idling

Yup.. in my case we thought was under the hood also but it turned out to be the cross on the driveshaft, under load or at traffic lights it gives a shake as if a wheel was badly damaged or need balancing.

Wont hurt to get it checked.

Actually the vehicle doesn't shake at all ...I just hear a virbrating sound that starts kinda slight and then increases until I touch the gas

Check the bonnet adjustment rubbers on the both front ends of the bonnet. Had a similar issue on my Nav and it turned out to be that.

Check Engine mounts/Transmission or Gearbox mounts also as mentioned it can be the Drive shaft cross.

I had a similar issue with my van a while back. It turned out to be a problem with the engine mounts. When the van was in drive and idling, the vibrations would travel into the cab just like you described. Putting it in neutral or giving it some gas would temporarily stop it. You might want to have a mechanic check your engine mounts to see if they need replacement.
